EZ Story Stick - Measuring Stick -Combo Package for Inside Measuring - Mini and Large

2 measuring sticks were delivered yesterday as advertised - I figured I'd upload some photos for others since there weren't any Customer Photos yet posted, and the seller photos didn't do the sticks justice. Usually I like to put products through some wear 'n tear before reviewing but I wanted to get photos posted - so here is some more detailed information that I hope helps you.Packaging states 3-8" on the short stick and 7-42" on the long one. Compacted the short stick is 2 7/8" and the long one is 6 7/8". Extended the short stick is 8 5/8" and the long one is 44 1/4". I've included photos but since you probably can't zoom into them I included specific dimensions.Each stick is basically an antenna that expand and retracts - there are NO MEASUREMENTS on the sticks - you'd either need a ruler / measuring tape to copy down a length - or in my case, extend the stick to the length needed and then bring it straight to the miter saw with the stick and mark the wood to the exact length of the stick. Each end has a phillips head screw holding the foot end onto the antenna - one of mine was loose but easily tightened. If they loosen again I'll probably put a dab of Permatex on each screw to prevent loosening - no big deal.4.5 stars - (a) I think the $22 price tag is a bit hefty for this item - but I could find no other similar items on Amazon and this is exactly what I needed for my stairs project. (b) longevity - I don't think either stick would survive and accidental boot stomp, and I'm a bit leery of over-extending the stick and pulling it into two pieces when near fully extended. I really hope they last for many years but time will tell.I paid $22 (full price) for this item on 10/22/2016 - I'm hoping I get good use out of them while finishing my basement - particularly reinforcing the wood staircase and doing woodwork. If I have any updates in the coming months I'll edit this review accordingly.

Great measuring tool where tape measure is not practical or when area is cramped. Purchased this because I misplaced my antique slide out ruler. Same concept, but this is more precise. I have already used the EZ Story Stick for measuring and marking cuts in stone veneer siding, baseboard trim, ductwork and cabinetry. Works great when you want to find the exact space "in between" objects and compare or replicate multiple measurements. I only wish there was a way to lock it to a certain measurement. However, it does stay at the extended, set length pretty well if you don't bump the ends too hard when handling. While it may look like an old retractable antenna, it was designed for measuring and will perform much better.

Well designed, well made, excellent customer service from EZ Woodshop (the manufacturer). Even the plastic bag it comes in is heavy duty. Just assembled some wire shelving in a closet with no light - very easy to get shelves set level, even though I would never have been able to read a tape measure or see the bubble in a level. Also used it to get dimensions for pipes under a tub. Would have never been able to get a tape measure in there, let alone read it. Set the stick, pulled it out and read off of tape measure.

These were great tools for exact measurements in tight spaces where a tape measure was just too tricky. Very nice. My only complaint was that the end screws come loose sometimes. It would be nice if these were not screws at all and were just solid. Not a big deal, but keep a screw driver handy to tighten from time to time.

In my line of work, now retired, I could have used this a thousand times and got it right the first time. I treasure these two very much.

Works but seems quite flimsy; not strong or sturdy... Just not enough use to make sure of how I feel...

I'm writing this review to help the developer get more of these sold. I could have used this years ago on multiple projects had I known it existed. This is one of those "when you have to have it, nothing else works" tools.

I think it was a little overpriced but overall it’s a good product
