Cute Adorable Heartwarming Teen Lesbian Romance <3
(Voluntarily reviewed an eARC of the book on For The Love of Fictional Worlds)The Falling In Love Montague is a brilliant, heart warming teen lesbian romance that will have your heart hurting in the best way possible – it is hilarious, idiotic at times (what teen isn’t!) and is full of hope that literally means that you will seeing sparkles and rainbows long after being done with this book!Ciara Smyth does give us a stunning debut of two lesbians – one, Saorise, who after going through a break up she never saw coming; which means that now she only does hook ups in the form of kissing maybe closeted girls/straight girls for entertainment and doesn’t want anything serious. What does happen is that she bumps into a girl she is immediately attracted to, Ruby – but since she *doesn’t* want relationships – Ruby suggests a summer of fun where they recreate all the meet cute that makes rom – coms a fun to watch.Ruby and Saorise’s meet cute is aww – worthy but has its own deep moments – from familial issues to their own insecurities – it doesn’t take long for either of them to realise that they *are* actually falling for each other – but will this romance find its way to a HEA is the million dollar question. To all those who really wanted a cute lesbian romance to sate their need; The Falling In Love Montague is EXACTLY what you ordered – a cute adorable meet cute with its own depth and growth that will have you binge reading the book until you reach the end!

A fun LGBTQ romcom
Our protagonist is one tough girl who lives her 'love life' with self structured 'strict rules'. Saoirse is flawed, stubborn and have long lost faith in "Happy endings". She had a difficult past. And present. And probably will have a difficult future too. You see, her mother has dementia and had to be put up in a care home. Her father is going to marry someone else and literally threw the news right into her face. And above that, she had a bad-bad break up with Hannah. She has been juggling with all these thoughts all alone because- Right! She doesn't have friends either. But when she met Ruby at a party, she could not take her eyes off her. As usual, she thought it would be just another summer fling (kiss-hook up-delete) but WOOPS! Saoirse's no-relationship rule book goes right out of the window and into her neighbour's garden. She fell in love and there's no falling out of love now. Things get complicated and it's no longer a happy rom-com now.I loved the character development of Saoirse and how from a stubborn teenager, she grew up to be this matured lady who handled Beth's wardrobe malfunction, her dad's childish nature, accepted her flaws to Ruby and learnt how to get over herself. I loved the exchange of sarcastic comments between Saoirse and her father too. Their relationship was complicated, but also cute. The language is kept pretty simple (apt for a romcom), the pace is okay-ish. I might have taken it longer to read since it was an ebook. It's a light funny read with no stereotyping and no complicated family drama about 'not being straight'. There's not much action or plot twists but nevertheless, it's a fun read.

Prepare to cry
I read this because I read her second book, Not My Problem, which was sweet and engaging and absolutely hilarious. This book is funny too, when it wants to be, but I cried through most of the last 75 pages or so.It's touching and thoughtful and the characters are charming in different ways (the romantic leads have chemistry, but honestly I think the strongest chemistry in the book is between Saoirse and Oliver, and I say this as a certified lesbian.)The sad parts are because Saoirse's mom has dementia, and the book doesn't shy away from that. Don't get the wrong idea--it isn't a broody, miserable, wallowing kind of story. The main character wallows, as she should, but the book doesn't. It's not unnecessarily sad, it's sad because losing parts of your loved one is sad. There are light parts, too. Romantic gestures. Enemies-to-frenemies. Swan stealing. The book is good, that's what I'm trying to say, even if it's not as carelessly happy as the title suggests.
