It works so well I'm buying another
Before I got a chance to use the one I bought, I saw how badly my daughter needed one, and I gave it to her. Using the one in my wife's car, and seeing how well the one I gave my daughter works, I have found the performance to far exceed any other phone holder I have seen. It stays in place, holds the phone reliably, keeps the view exactly as you have set it, is easy and simple to move the phone to see anything you need to behind the phone, and maintains its holding power over time. I have never seen it drop a phone no matter how the road may jar the car. I am buying another to replace the one I gave to my daughter.

Not as Good as the 1st One, Wiggles Off
The first one of these I ordered worked very well and the magnet was super strong. It broke after a few years at the joint and I ordered a new one, and the ad said it was the same product. This one seems to be made sightly different and wiggles a lot more in the CD slot. Plus, the magnet is not as strong as the last one so my phone wiggles off in my Jeep, even on main roads. I tried shipping it back as defective since it's not working like the old one did and Amazon wanted me to travel to ship it back instead of sending UPS to my door to pick it back up like they used to. Why should I go out of my way "for free" when gas isn't free and I don't have a nearby, convenient UPS place? All to return a defective product? I don't think so. All I wanted to do was exchange for for another one hoping it will work as advertised.**UPDATE** Via Amazon chat, I was able to get a rep to send an RMA for the return with UPS coming to my door for pickup. The replacement should be here today.

works but may not be suitable for some cars
In my quest to find a good way to hold my phone while driving, I tried this CD slot holder. I've also tried cup holder solutions and vent clips and I think that vent clips are the best option with the fewest compromises, cd slot holders are a distant second but may be a good option in specific cases.I recognize that a CD slot phone holder may work well for some situations, and I thought this would work for me, so I gave it a try. 3 weeks later, I think I can share my experiences. This cd slot holder from Koomus is one of 2 cd slot solutions that I bought to try, the other having a wide slot and screw tensioner. I like the cleaner design of the Koomus Pro but I found that in my VW Passat with the RNS-510 navigation head unit, the cd slot opening was too thin for the Koomus, resulting in this cd slot holder forcing the plastic trim around the slot (where it was inserted) to bend outward to accommodate it. The bending wasn't huge and as far as I can tell, there's no permanent damage, but I wouldn't be surprised to find a crack in the slot trim if I left this in there for a long time. The problem appears to be the tongues that insert into the slot, they are too thick for the slot on this nav unit. In addition, the spring tension on the tongues (which is definitely a cleaner solution than the screw tensioners of other brands), forcing the tongues open to hold the mount in place in the slot, just adds to the situation. I also found it very difficult to insert into the CD slot on my Jeep Wrangler (no nav, just a basic satellite radio/CD setup). I should point out that on our Buick Enclave with nav and the backup camera, the CD slot opening is taller and this deflection of the slot is not a problem. So it will vary from slot to slot, depending on which head unit your vehicle has. There is one more serious consideration about CD slot holders in general, and that's with visibility of the nav screen. Many nav screens also display the backup camera feed. With a phone on the mount in the CD slot, the screen may be partly or fully blocked. This was my situation with my Note 4 phone (yes it's a larger phone like the iPhone 6S and many others now). I needed to remove the phone from the holder to see the screen when I went into reverse. Obviously this isn't a problem if you don't have a reverse camera or the slot and screen aren't close together, but 3 of my cars do have this concern, and in all 3, a CD slot mount solutions block the screen with the phone. It's for this reason I think a vent mount is a better option, but your situation could be different from mine.A few last thoughts about the design of the Koomus Pro. While I really like the narrower design of the area where the tongues insert into the slot and the spring tensioner, I don't think it has as much stability as the wider options of the slot holders with the screw type tensioner. My phone bounces around more with this holder than with the other ones I have and I find that distracting. However, even with the extra bounce, the strong magnet in the head of the Koomus has never dropped my phone (I don't use the included metal plate since my phone has a wireless charging back. The metal plate interferes with wireless charging and there is enough metal in the wireless charging back that the phone can be held by the magnet with not other requirements!Overall, this cd slot holder works, but for my situation I wasn't willing to give up visibility of the reverse camera and I wasn't comfortable with the risk of damage to the plastic surround of the CD slot. The Koomus ooks nice and there is definitely thought put into the design, but the cars I have were probably not part of their test conditions so it makes me give it a 3 star recommendation with the guidance, YMMV.

For what it is, it’s an impressive mount
Bought this to hold my phone on construction jobs. Compared to other magnetic mounts, this one holds on tight. Whether on bumpy rough roads, or driving across broken ground, it holds on tight to the phone much better than similar products.

I Was Skeptical, but Now I'm a Believer
[UPDATE April 18, 2016: It has almost been 5 months since I have owned this product. I have been using this phone holder every day for my work commute (2hrs per day). I have kept it in the CD slot ever since I have bought it. I have been noticing some very minor color changes of the protective rubber coating. It appears that it has turned to a lighter grey color due to long-term sun exposure (does not look bad at all...mind you, this is just my inner critic observing things). We'll see how much the color changes as the hot summer days approach. Needless to say, this does not affect the form, fit or function. For those who are still skeptical about the magnets interfering/damaging the smartphone, be advised that there is no danger. I have been using the same iPhone since then and all of the features work as intended. No drop in GPS signal, cell coverage, Bluetooth signal, etc...it all works seamlessly, even while attached to the magnetic phone holder. I hope this update was helpful in relieving any doubts. I see that the price has dropped since I have gotten it. You'd be crazy to not give this product a try!PS: I'm an engineer and I believe this is a well designed product. Very strong, durable and doesn't stick out too far to cause that unwanted pendulum "bobble" affect every time you hit a bump or crack in the road.FYI: I did NOT receive this product for free from Koomus in the hopes of an unbiased review. This was bought with my own money. :-)//end update][ORIGINAL REVIEW (Dec. 5, 2015):I purchased this Koomus Pro CD-M phone holder because I was looking for an easy way to mount my iPhone 6 in my car. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical of this magnetic contraption and how it would be inserted into the CD slot. I did a bunch of research into this model and the affects that magnets have on the modern smartphone. My results were that the magnet would not cause any damage to the phone. You do not have to worry about losing any files because your phone has SSD (solid state drive). I know that the average person would think that any magnet is bad for electronics. Computers with hard drives can be harmed by a strong enough magnet because hard drives use magnetism to store information. SSD's on phones (and now in many computers) do not use magnetism, rather they use semiconductor technology. Therefore, you have nothing to fear with this magnetic phone holder deleting any media on your phone. Also, this does not affect your GPS apps (Apple Maps or Google Maps). I use Google Maps and the magnet does not interfere with its functionality. The GPS uses satellites, not a compass, to navigate.I have been using this phone holder every day for my hour commute to work since I've purchased it a week ago. I have an Otterbox Symmetry case on my phone and I put both metal plates between the phone and the case. The rubber coating on the magnet prevents any scratches. The phone will literally not come off of the holder unless you get into an accident or if someone knocks it off. I accidentally hit a few potholes this week and my phone didn't move at all. The ball-axis that the magnet sits on is firm as well and can be easily adjusted. The push button that keeps the holder fastened inside of the CD slot is firm and ensures a tight grip.I am happy that I chose this phone holder. It takes zero effort to use and it is a lot more convenient than the standard phone holder with a spring-loaded claw. I would recommend this phone holder to anybody and everybody.//end original review]

Pleasantly surprised! A great product.
Having tried a variety of suction holders (which have all fallen off at some point) and flirted with air vent holders (which are okay unless it is hot or cold and then the 'phone blocks them)........I thought I'd have a bash at this.It is really good.It fits easily and without fuss into my CD slot - it is really secure and doesn't move at all.The pack comes with two metal plates. I put BOTH (side-by-side) into the case of my Galaxy Note 9 - which is a BIG 'phone. The plates adhere to the magnet with ease - even through the 'phone case - and hold my BIG 'phone in place - removal of my 'phone is easy too if you lift and give a tiny twist :-)I throw my car around a bit and there hasn't even been a hint that my 'phone could fall off.A great product which I highly recommend.

Fits nicely in Mercedes CD Slot.
It's the only phone holder that stays in place in Mercedes SLK R172. Vent holders are falling off due to the shape of vents. Tried that before. It fits nicely into CD Slot and it's far enough from buttons, so you can still press them. Obviously you can't see them any more but most drivers know what's where in their cars.Magnet is very strong, so I have to hold mount to remove the phone. Otherwise it would move in the CD slot.I suspect it may damage lining of CD Slot over time or change shape of it. But in this age we don't have to worry about CD players too much.--Update on 30/04/2018I removed the vent holder and lining of CD is damaged. I sold the car but I won't be mounting holder to another SLK. It's in too good condition to damage something in it. I will try to sell holder on Ebay now.

Very stable.
Yeh, surprisingly good. Has held the phone in place without issue. No need to permanently stick the metal plates (included), just tuck them into your phone case and they’ll do the job.

combines springs and magnetism to produce a smartphone mount that is elegant in its simplicity
So far, so good. This device combines springs and magnetism to produce a smartphone mount that is elegant in its simplicity. What's not to like, other than perhaps being a few pennies cheaper.*** Alas, the mount broke after 13 months of use ***

Brilliant little gadget
Brilliant little device. Our new car doesn’t have a sat nav display bit with this, you don’t need it!
