Tormek T-8 Wood Turner's Package

I love sharpening tools - it's one of the more cathartic parts of woodworking for me. After shaping something new, to be able to renew your tools to a "better than new" condition is incredibly rewarding for me. I go through a whole process with grinding (if needed), honing the tools on three waterstones, and finishing it with a go on my strop. But, with two kids, my woodworking hours are dwindling and its taking me longer and longer to get a sharp edge as I get rusty from less practice. So, after looking into a lot of options, I landed on the Tormek. The first thing I noticed was that it came with bandaids - I rolled my eyes and thought, "oh, that's cute." I read the instructions, had the thing humming in an hour, sharpened my first chisel and cut my thumb on it (guess they include the bandaids for a reason!). I can't believe how quick and easy it was to get an incredibly sharp edge - all without the heat, sparks, and dust of a grinder. It allowed me to spend the rest of my night actually woodworking instead of working and reworking the edge. Think of the Tormek as your apprentice (if you were woodworking 300 years ago) who delivers reliable, sharp edges while you spend your time actually doing the woodworking. It is worth the investment!

This machine is awesome. At first I bought the grizzly and returned it. Bought the tormek t-8All I can say is don't waste your time buying a cheap one.
