Does this unit have an inside light that comes on when you open the door or does the light only come on when cooking?

Well, son of a gun! I just opened the door, instead of interpreting some printed material somewhere, and the light came on. Frankly, I've never seen a microwave oven that DIDN'T turn its light on when the door is opened. It's a necessity, and it would be kinda stupid not to.

When the interior light is on (when cooking), yes. When the light is off, the front has a mirror-like reflective surface.
