Update: Didn't last even a year
I had a couple of these some years back, from a different company, that worked well, but finally gave up the ghost after years of use. I decided to get a new one as I've made a tea drinker out of my husband, so I no longer just brew myself a single cup at a time with a single serve infuser, but make a teapot full at a time, then put it in my Zojirushi vacuum carafe to keep it hot. This one works as well as the Teavana brand (and I wonder if it's the same one, just rebranded) and makes a little over half a carafe full at a time. It allows the tea leaves plenty of room to move around and fully unfurl, which is necessary for tea leaves, otherwise you don't get a good brew. It doesn't leak, and I love that these dispense from the bottom right into the carafe or cup. I wish they made a larger one for tea pots, but I can easily make two batches using the same tea leaves to fill the carafe if needed. It is on the more expensive side, but it's also worth the price for the quality and usefulness. Update: Dec 20, 2025. Sadly, this one did not live up to the previous ones I've had. It didn't last even a year before the inside mesh screen and ball bearing fell out. The first time it fell out a few weeks ago, I put it back in, But, sadly, it wouldn't stay in and apparently fell out when I was emptying the tea leaves, so it got lost; now I need to start all over again and find a tea infuser that I like as well as I liked this one until it broke.

A wonderful tool for tea drinkers
I drink lots of lose-leaf tea, and am very picky about the quality of what I purchase, and the resulting taste. I am also a food traditionalist, and don't like gimmicks. But I have embraced this infuser with enthusiasm. The reasons: 1. it does a great job and gives me a lot of control over the brewing. I can see the tea leaves unfold and the color of the tea as it darkens, and stop the infusion at the right time. 2. It is very easy to clean. I just dump the tea leaves in the trash, and quickly rinse off the ones that stick to the infuser. It less messy than the traditional infusers or strainers that often rinse off poorly. 3. The straining fabric at the bottom of the infuser is of high quality, and does not let through the small tea particles that break off from the leaves during transportation and handling. I was initially skeptical, but this infuser was cleverly designed, and I decided to give it a try. I do not regret it, and I highly recommend it to all loose-leaf tea drinkers. (Not needed if you use tea bags.) One suggestion to the manufacturer: add a scale to the infuser, so that the user easily knows how much liquid is being poured.

Does its job well
This tea maker is almost perfect. It's a great price and definitely easy to use. As others have said it rinses out when using tea leaves easily and I've also used it for coffee as without problems. Ultimately I definitely recommend for anyone who loves loose tea by the cup and doesn't want to pull out a whole brewing system or who thinks as I do that the little tea pods with the holes (sorry what are they called?) don't allow for good water flow for steeping. It's also big enough for a small pot of tea. I have only two mild observations that don't amount to deal-breakers: Firstly, the tea maker filters into your cup, mug, tumbler, etc automatically when you place it on top of the cup and the feet, resting on the cup, push up into the maker allowing for the flow. (It seems other models have a manual lever you squeeze) I have many size cups, mugs and tumblers and not one of them is the same size as the tea maker platform that sits on the cup. The maker is always sitting to one side and not all the feet are "engaged." While it works fine, and doesn't leak or anything, I've found that shifting it from one side of the maker to the other helps it filter more completely. No biggie, but kind of weird. Curious what cup or tea pot it was made to fit exactly. Secondly, I like to add spices to my tea during the steeping, which is one of my reasons for purchasing this type of tea maker. The very fine filter gets a bit clogged when I add ground spices and is not quite as simple to rinse. As this is not the explicit intended purpose of the tea maker, I can't fault it. The tea maker serves its purpose well and is a good value compared to others. I'd recommend it.

Nice contraption
It's a bit expensive for what it is, but this thing is convenient and generally makes good tea. For cleaning, I just rinse mine well between uses and wash it in the dishwasher once a week. My single complaint is that the hinge should be stiffer such that it will hold the lid open and let itself air dry. The lid also tends to loudly slam shut when you are loading and/or rinsing it. There was some stiffness to the hinge for the first month of use but it quickly loosened.

NO BALL BEARINGS! Works/looks great!
I purchased my first rapidTEA MAKER back in '14, and liked it so much that I then bought the larger version. The only thing I didn't like about those two was that the handle was glued in place (a different color from the clear pot itself) and when I dropped one, the handle popped off. Hubby glued it back on and I used that thing for over 5 years until it finally kicked the dust. When I went back to order a new one, I read a horror story or two about how it now had ball bearings under the screen filter, and that they'd fall out and it wouldn't work anymore, so I just made do with my 32oz tea pot. Now I no longer want to drink 32oz of tea in the morning, 2 cups are enough, thank you very much (say my kidney stones ROFL) so I again looked at Tealyra, as I really loved my first two pots. And again, I read the horror story about the ball bearing found in the garbage disposer... and thought, the heck with it, if it doesn't work well I'll return it. Well, NO BALL BEARINGS!!! This is just like my first 2, only with one improvement... the handle is no longer a different colored plastic and seems to be an all-in-one molded unit. And IT WORKS FANTASTIC! I'm again enjoying my 2 cups of tea every morning, with no leaks, no ball bearings, and it still keeps my tea just right, temperature-wise. I really love this infuser, and I'm SO glad I decided to give it one more try! This makes a fantastic cup of tea, with either bags or loose leaf, and I'm totally pleased with this purchase! And remember... NO BALL BEARINGS! Either they changed the design, or the ball bearings are from another type of product!

Great way to steep loose leaf tea.
I make tea for my wife each morning as I make my coffee. This makes it super easy. Just pour in some tea add the hot water then let steep for as long as you like. It rests on small feet on the bottom. The bottom is designed to fit over a wide variety of mugs or glasses and when you sit it on the mug the tea is released out of the bottom. It comes with a small round dish that it will sit on to prevent drips onto the counter.

Leaks pretty heavily. Lost much tea in a puddle underneath it.
I stopped using its coaster because the raised edges are too close to the parts that open it. I have a 16 oz of a different brand and it's the same exact coaster. I had the 16 oz of this years ago and it was the best. I poured hot water in and walked away for a few minutes and came back to a puddle like in the pictures. I walked it over to the sink to dump the plate and this thing was dripping the entire way. While I had it over the sink, I thought maybe if I jiggle it, the marble will sit right and this will stop. It seemed to slow, but still continued to drip. Since it slowed, I left it for another moment and had the same size puddle to deal with. I dumped puddles off this paper plate 3 times for one pot of tea. The liquid level lowered around an inch. There's also some defect on the lid that won't allow it to open more than about 2 inches. I did figure that out, and it seems like a piece of connective plastic wasn't cut off after the molding process. I thought the problem was that I was using its coaster and that was lifting an edge, but this plate is no question large enough to not have that problem. I wanted a 30 oz of this type of pitcher that doesn't have a horrific handle. That one was literal pain to use. And I thought since I had the smaller one, this one would be great. I'm upset to find out I was wrong. It's possible that there's more than one defect and it's a fluke. I can't know that until I have another one to try. My no name brand 16 oz leaves a few drips on its coaster and that's it. No matter how long I leave it to sit full.

Great for Tea Lovers
I've purchased this item multiple times and use it throughout the day. I've given it as a gift and recommend to anyone who enjoys their tea. I prefer brewing loose tea, and this is perfect for that. It pours from the bottom into a cup or pot easily and is easy to clean. Definitely a great purchase for any tea lover.

Good product better price
Works great and worth the price. I’ve had this product for two weeks and haven’t looked back. I like this product because you can make tea or coffee in it. I don’t suggest fine powders to strain because they get in the holes apart from that 5stars.
