Q: Can you use this for plastic water bottles like the poland spring type that are 16.9 ounces? They are similar in diameter to a beer bottle (I think).

It fits in there, but it is not super snug. It probable would fall out if turned upside down.

Q: Do these need to be chilledin the fridge before use.?

No, I’ve never put them in the fridge. They keep beverages cold without any chilling.

Q: Would this work with plastic Coke bottles?

No. It’s a tight fight for a beer bottle
