I own many models of DI units. I use them in my life sound business. I am not a recording studio. So far I've been using this DI in active mode with a variety of jazz and upright basses, in a church setting. I've been at FOH for years and know the room and instruments used in the band. We also broadcast to a second facility and stream on-line. I found this DI to be quiet, yet it adds something "nice" to the overall sound, compared to lesser DIs. I like my Countryman 85 and Radial DIs too, just sayin. Keep in mind the bass player has nice instruments, so I expect some pleasant sounds from the start. The band is skilled and experienced. Several said they liked the bass tone coming through the IEMs. So far, I really like this DI. Build quality seems nice too. Many users say the DI has a "warm" sound...just like the name implies. I don't think this is audio voodoo. The DI sounds good! Sorry if you were looking form some kind of "expert" description...like..."Starts off with a refreshing string pluck, followed by a dark "walnut" finish with hints of chocolate."

STOP LOOKING AND BUY THIS ITEM . But if you need a review to justify buying this well here ya go ! I have used other top name brands but what this D.I. box offers is everything you would need in a studio. Its a one stop shop for active or passive guitars and basses. Super clean signa, so there is no worry for weird hums. The amp feature is awesome and worth it's with in gold.. hands down this is my first recommendation for anyone rather being at home in the bedroom studios or in the big building studios. THIS IS A MUST HAVE ITEM

I bought this on a great deal and it had some useful features, including variable dB reduction and the ability to toggle between an active and passive DI. Well, about a year later, the DI box has started malfunctioning. While in the middle of a set, I'll loose signal. I've replaced my guitar battery, changed cables and when I swap out the DI box, everything works again. I doubt that this was something that is problem with the set up since it was working fine for the first year without incident. The only thing I can conclude is that the box is busted. I'll be in the market for another DI box to replace this one. I suggest you consider a more reliable box.
