Not as comprehensive as the REAL factory service manual, confusing wiring diagrams
This is the Go-To book for all repairs on VW Beetles. If you don't have one of these, you're poking around in the dark. This has MOST of the factory procedures outlined, but there are still a few things it does not cover. Having worked on cars for more than 30 years, this is one of the most convoluted and difficult wiring diagrams I have ever encountered. The diagram for my year and model is scattered across literally dozens of pages, interspersed with bits and pieces of wiring diagrams from other years and trim. Each page is only a tiny snippet of the wiring diagram, with cross-references leading to dozens of other pages. And of course, they have to make up their own symbols for all the parts. Tracing anything promises to be more painful than it needed to be. For that I deducted one star, but this manual is still essential.

Everything you need to know.
Like all Bentley automotive publications, this book is thorough. Very useful for the DIY’er.

Not happy with the Bently manual - VW New Beetle
This is the 3rd or 4th Bently manual I've bought and by FAR the worst! My 2nd gen Jetta Bently manual was actually usefull, with step by step instructions for removing and replacing parts or troubleshooting problems. It had actual pictures and more usefull information packed in 1/2 the thickness book. This one has large blank areas on 1 out of every 2 pages, few pictures (more line drawings) and no usefull procedures on the two problems I needed initial help with. I had a sunroof problem and my sunroof is entirely different from the one in the manual but there was NO descriptions of other types to help with the differences. I need to replace a outer CV joint and there again is NO procedure to do so - just a series of pictures showing the various parts, but NOT in a sequence that shows the disasembly. In summary the 8 pound (!) 2.6 in thick manual is overpriced, overweight, filled with empty spaces but not needed information. For what this cost they should have included the CD/DVD version so that you could at least print the section you need to carry to the work site. The manual is entirely too big to carry to the car and prop in a work location.Too big, heavy, expensive.Poor troubleshooting, poor pictures, poor procedures.Even a Haynes manual is better!

Tons of detail
This is a pricey manual but it contains everything and it well laid out. I've seen shop manuals from the manufacturer that were tough to follow. I've seen aftermarket manuals that were very thin light on detail. This laid out a summary and then gave details with diagrams and pictures. It is also big enough to use as a wheel chock! I was diagnosing an inoperative convertible top and it was very helpful in combination the a VW specific code reader like the $50 AUTOPHIX V007.

Best Printed Manual You Can Get
This is the most comprehensive manual you can get for the New Beetle. Unlike many of the aftermarket manuals, the pictures in this one are all renderings from the models used to build the car and are far more clear than the photographs Haynes uses. This manual is also about three times as long as all the other manuals I have for the vehicle and the extra description it has is well worth the price. If you intend to do anything more involved than an oil change or brake job, this is the manual you will eventually end up needing.

An important addition to the library of any New Beetle owners
If you're looking at this item it is probably because you, or someone you know, owns a Volkswagen New Beetle. The first thing you probably will notice is the price. This book is not cheap and is easy to dismiss because of the price. However, each time you take your Beetle to a dealership odds are you will pay significantly more to repair it in labor charges alone. When this book arrived I was shocked at the weight, this book is MASSIVE. It is loaded with information about anything you may need to know about your vehicle. Don't let the price-tag fool you, if you want to learn more about your car, this book is very important to own.

Great information, you may not find in a Chilton's.
I like the information provided. I did not like not seeing an inadequate amount of information on the size fasteners or tools required.

Great detail
Lots of jumping from one section to another during a particular task is a bit of a pain. But overall a great resource. Huge time saver and excellent detail.
