Murder in the Crypt: A Redmond and Haze Mystery Book 1 (Redmond and Haze Mysteries)

I really enjoyed reading this book.The writing style is very good as it kept me hooked till the end.I really loved the story but I hope there was little bit more mystery and secrects to discover and a little bit more action.

This is a well crafted Victorian era mystery, set in a small village called Birch Hill. In a welcome departure, the investigator is not a high flying senior Police Officer, but a lowly Parish Constable. In addition there is no Doctor Watson by his side. This side kick, although a medical man, is an American citizen. The victim, obviously, by virtue of the title, is found in the crypt of the local church. With a lack of suspects and reason for the killing, it presents our two heroes with a real headache but strong will and local knowlege wins through in the end. A worthwhile effort redolent of the 19th Century period.

When Jason Redmond arrives in England to pick up his inheritance, he has no intention of staying in the country. His plan was to return back to America after a few weeks. But when a body is found in the crypt of the church, he teams up with Daniel Haze, the local constable to solve the crime. Daniel, is happy to have help with the case and the two men become firm friends as they set out to find the killer.This is a real page turner. I just couldn't put the book down. Highly recommended.

Another great book from Irina Shapiro. Different from her usual style, a murder mystery and I'm happy as it the first one in what I hope is a new series. An american comes to Britain after inheriting a title and helps a country constable solve a murder.

I love the two main characters and look forward to reading more of their cases. This one rattled along nicely and was a good start - keen to see how the series will develop.

I loved this book and now look forward to reading the rest in the series.It will be interesting also to see if Jason returns to New York
