The Golem of Solomon's Way: A Magic And Machinery Novel (3)

I picked up the first volume in this series while searching for an entertaining free read. I was completely hooked after "Wolves of the Northern Rift" and purchased Book 2, "The Blood Thief", soon after. I couldn't wait for Book 3 to come out and I treated myself for Christmas. I was not disappointed! While there are obvious comparisons to Sherlock Holmes and Watson, we find that all of the main characters are contradictory and complex, and yet they fit together seamlessly. The plot moved quickly and somewhat predictably yet held enough surprises, twists and turns that I was on the edge of my seat for the entire book and read it over the course of two nights. Either I have to read more slowly or Jon Messenger needs to write faster! LOL Brief synopsis: Simon, Luthor and Mattie find themselves in the midst of an investigation into a series of odd murders in Solomon's Way, the seedier side of town where Simon's fiance lives and works. Their investigation brings them into political conflict with the local constabulary where they find an unlikely ally and a possible suspect. In the background, Simon is offered a promotion by the King. As the story unfolds we find ourselves wondering where the politics and mayhem will bring the Inquisitor, Luthor and Mattie -- all of whom have secrets to keep. This latest installment brings more depth to the characters and fleshes out a bit more of the world of Callifax and its politics. And now we will have to wait until Book 4 to see how the author will weave all of these threads into concluding this story line. Looking forward to it!

Solid characters continue to develop as the series continues with twists and complications forcing our band of adventurers to find even more within themselves as they battle for the realm

Jon Messenger has created an interesting world, and filled it with witty and charming characters and great twists. I stumbled across this series entirely by chance, and am quite happy I did, since I found a new series to eagerly await its completion.

Intriguingly captivating book that uses suspense and thrills to keep you tuned in. Need more!

A crazy fun quirk vs Sherlock Holmes and Watson. Loved the characters.

Interesting read , would recommend this series.

I can hardly wait for the next book to be written. I just hope that it arrives before my memories of this installment fade.

Enjoying the whole series

I enjoyed the 1st two books in this series enough to pre-order this one, which was spoiled for me by the descriptions of the death, dismemberment and autopsy of a female character. I wont be back to this author sadly.
