Restoring the Christian Family: A Biblical Guide to Love, Marriage, and Parenting In A Changing World

I have used this book for many, many years training and helping young adults prepare for family life. Even though the book is old and the examples outdated (the first edition was written in 1979 and the second in 2009), the truths found within the pages are relevant still today (2020). This is by far one of the best books I have read on family life and I have read many.I highly recommend Restoring The Christian Family.

This wonderful work on marriage and parenting comes from a sound biblical and psychosocial perspective that clarifies the roles of mothers and fathers. It brings a clear understanding of role differentiation in the marriage based on the realities of gender differences. But be forewarned - this book will challenge many presuppositions of extant evangelical feminism, to say nothing of radical feminism (see Piper and Grudem, 2006  Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood: A Response to Evangelical Feminism). However, the tremendous dignity and nobility of the female gender and the rightful place of a wife as her husband's help mate is preserved in the context of the husband and wife as co-heirs of the grace of Christ. This is a foundational work for counselors dealing with problems in the Christian family today and offers practical guidelines for bringing a marriage under the Lordship of Christ. This book tackles some hard questions concerning spirituality and growing as a Christian family. In the process, it provides very satisfying answers and clearer perspectives concerning the challenges facing g families. Great read! I recommend it to every family.
