Big Country Original Soundtrack

I'd been waiting for years to get this on CD. I still have my old LP even though my turntable doesn't work anymore. I couldn't give up this music. It was played constantly in my boarding school dorm back in 1958, and it's still thrilling today. Moross studied with Aaron Copland and gets a lot of his pictorial values in the music, but at the same time there's an extra jolt of energy in it so it can ride with the muscular story. The opening bars that accompany a spinning wagon wheel in the film are part of our country's cultural memory now. One of the great movie waltz tunes is in it, too, and you'll be carried away by the track labeled "Big Muddy." Highly recommended.

I listen to this CD several times a week and it plays throughout the night. It brings me back to the movie and Gregory Peck and Jean Simmons et al. I saw the movie on Amazon Prime. Immediately, I purchased the music. It has that wonderful 50s panoramic feel for the great Westerns that were made during that time.

I've always loved this movie and the music which is unforgettable. So I decided to order the CD so I could listen whenever I like. Unfortunately, if you don't have really good speakers, it loses a lot of it impact. If you do, you are in luck, because the music is magnificent.

This is one of the great movie scores. If you don't have it on its old vinyl pressing, buy the CD.

Been a long time and coming to find this CD! From an old western starring Gregory Peck and so many more! Yeah, nice music! Especially the 2nd song THE WELCOME!

We’ve watched the movie Several times and always enjoyed the music so we wanted to be able to listen to the music independent of the movie. Really enjoy the soundtrack!

was one of my favorite movies and sound tracks many years ago, and I recently rediscovered it. Such a pleasure. Only problem, the music makes me have a heavy foot on the gas while driving...how do you explain to a cop that it was the music's fault, when you're almost 70 years old...no sense of humor.

Alas, the phonics on this album are not up to current standards. However, the original recording is good, the music spectacular and enjoyable. Don't expect digital quality or fine analog recording

La plícula siempre me pareció maravillosa y desde hace algún tiempo me he dado cuenta que no hay películas buenas sin buena Banda sonora. Aquí no hay que dos temas musicales versionados de muchas manaeras, lento, rápido, acción, pero unos temazos.

La inconfundible banda sonora de "El gran país" ejemplo de música y película al mismo nivel ambas. Muchos la recordamos por ser la sintonía de "El gran musical" de los 40 principales, muy acertada por cierto. Insustituible.

I remember many years ago seeing The Big Country at the cinema and when the film ended I stayed at the back of the cinema until all the music had finished, just stirring and brilliant, recently I watched Last night at the proms when this music was featured and the female announcer kept referring to Jerome Morose! and years ago in the Radio Times there was a write up about the film and the man accredited the music to Elmer Bernstein (really annoying) every piece included on this CD tells a story, The Big Muddy, Old Thunder etc, and one is transported back to the beautiful scenery in this film & the action which takes place, you will enjoy this I'm sure, it is one of the best Western scores ever written.
