Don't use this for PlayStation Vue or DirecTV Now
See edit below:Okay, let's be frank here. I didn't get this to "cut the cable," and I have a two-year contract with DirecTV, which is fully satisfying, but with this little device hooked onto my TV, I'm beginning to wonder whether I may be able to do without my beloved "TV channels." This little box is so cool, very inexpensive, and highly satisfying. So why the four stars? Simply, it is too hard to search and navigate with the remote control. There is a very simple fix: get a remote mini keyboard like this Smart&Cool ® Mini 2.4GHz Wireless Touchpad Mouse with Keyboard for PC, PAD, XBox 360, PS3, Google Android TV Box, HTPC, IPTV (Black) and then movie searching and cursor movement is a snap. Even if you don't get the remote keyboard, I think you'll love this little device.I especially like that Kodi (formerly Xbox Media Center) is built into this device. This really helps make the TV box great! Price and performance wise, this package is hard to beat. Think about it this way: this TV box is basically the same or better configuration than a "Chrome Box" of five years ago that sold for $200. I purchased mine for under $30! I'm a happy camper... er, TV box watcher!EDIT: One year (and a month) after purchase:It is now August 2017: I am now fed up with the high price of cable. I am REALLY going to "cut the cable" my DirecTV bill is about $165/month. Sometimes it is close to $190 because we do watch movies on Video on Demand. Now, I actually love DirecTV. Sharp, easy to navigate, quick to respond, great selection of channels, but waaay too expensive. So I'm testing out PlayStation Vue and DirecTV Now $40 and $35, respectively (although I'm getting an ATT discount on DirecTV with cell phone usage). I have tried many configurations and rooting and unrooting, but neither streaming service work well on this box. I'm not giving up with Android TV boxes. I just purchased Smart TV Box Rockchip RK3229 Android 6.0 TV Box 2G/8G Smart Set Top Box Support Ultra HD 4K 60fps H.265 with WiFi DLNA Smart Box with 2GB RAM 8GB Storage for (maybe?) a better experience. Time will tell. One thing for sure, my back up plan of using Roku, both the Roku Streaming Stick (3600R) | Portable HD Streaming Player, Quad-Core Processor, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Point Anywhere Remote (Certified Refurbished) and the Roku 4 | HD and 4K UHD Streaming Media Player with Enhanced Remote (Voice Search, Lost Remote Finder, and Headphone),Quad-Core Processor,Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB Port (Certified Refurbished) will give me a better TV (cut the cord) Streaming experience than the Android TV box (albeit at a higher price for the Roku).

the Add-ons I've looked at for tv-shows do not play the shows I like. Overall
It does play different movie that are in the theater or movies that have not been released on DVD. But as for the reviews that mentioned you don't need cable anymore because of the box is false and not accurate reviews. First, depending on the Add-on the movie may not play due to a lack of sources. Second, some movies, not all, either buffers majority of the movie or does not play "smooth" all the way through. Third, the Add-ons I've looked at for tv-shows do not play the shows I like. Overall, for the price it's not a bad investment, the downloading of Kodi takes a while but is worth the wait, and you get to look at a lot of movies before you buy them. I believe the earlier reviews I read gave me a false sense of what to expect which is why I had unrealistic high expectations. Would I buy it again, yes for the inexpensive price and that it does work. Would I recommend to others, yes and I have but I let them know the pros and cons upfront so that they know what to look for

A small device packed with features and performance above the rest.
The M9S is may seem to be another OTT box from the hundreds of rebranded clones out there but the performance clearly outshines the rest. It’s not going to do the device any justice that I’m making this review using written text but im going to try the best that I can. If you came to this review to see what the details and specifications are for this device then you will be disappointed. Personally I’m not a big fan of “tech-specs”. I look at these specs and I do understand what it brings to the device but I’m well aware that its how these specs work together that really makes a difference. So let’s dive into how the specs make up this beast in a small package. The Shell: Compact but not shorthanded. This is without a doubt one of the smallest OTT box out there. Weighing in at no heavier than a few beverage coasters on your hand, this device is incredibly light very compact. The palm of my hand is actually bigger than this thing, its really remarkable. This would also be a great thing for the device since it would make it easier to mount on to a wall or discreetly tucked away behind the TV itself. There are virtually no heating issues with this device although it does have vents for cooling. It includes a couple of USB ports that is perfect for adding a mouse and keyboard. I also tried out my Logitech controller and worked just fine. (with a little configuration) This feature, however, may disappoint a few people who have experience with OTT boxes since many of them offer 4 USB ports for added versatility. This would have come in handy if you needed extra memory but for the average user like me, the extra memory is really not needed as much since im not using this as a PC replacement. It maybe shorthanded for that it seems but I feel its something I can live with. Another welcome feature is that this OTT box has an A/V port and cable included. This is perfect for those who still have older TVs in their possession. This model comes with a remote that is responsive enough but lacks the “clear cache” feature that I always use on some models. The Guts: Software that runs in a snap but tumbles on the visuals. The GPU and CPU are really built for speed. Every click is noticeably more responsive compared to my other OTT boxes. Even when KODI updates and switches, the transition from app to app is very smooth and I have yet to encounter a crash. Browsing is a smooth as silk as well and can run most sites with easy. HD videos really run without lag or delay. 4K upscaling and native videos are well supported as well. Even though the GPU is very powerful I found that when it comes to android game, it lacked the shading capabilities of some OTT boxes. I found this disappointing and it seriously handicaps the device. Other non-GPU intensive games do work and runs like a breeze. I also used a wireless keyboard through one of its ports and it responds and connects with it flawlessly. If you bought this item, most likely you’re in it for Kodi. This comes preloaded with Kodi addons and all you needed to do is plug it on to your TV and network and you’re on your way to enjoying free programming and content. Be cautious however, since this includes some adult oriented programs. I had my own Kodi setup so all I needed to do was restore it on the box which is a neat feature for those who can dig a little deeper into kodi. Lets also not forget that you can have music and images displayed in this device. Just keep in mind that you only have 4GB of space to play around. The Package: Unexciting but accomplishes the purpose. The box is just a box. That’s it. I know that there is a whole culture out there that meticulously scrutinizes the box art and presentation. This box is not meant for that crowd. There really not much going on here to make an unbox-video enthusiast hold his breath. Its just a generic brown package with a sleeve that features what’s in the box. Every item is individually wrapped and the device itself is in a nice velvety sleeve. The manual is also tucked away nicely deep in the box.The Price: Unbeatable and worth every penny. If you can afford to skip a couple of coffee runs or drive through meals, you can afford this device. It will serve to replace your other content players and load up on all the media you would like. Definitely recommended for everyone.

Excellent, but use lower capacity USB storage devices.
This was more than my expectation. All I'm looking for is a movie player from USB drives that does not stop at the 2-hour play limit. Most LED TVs can play videos through its built-in USB port but they stop at 2-hour playtime. Now with this device, I even can watch youtube on my LED TV even if its not a smart tv...I could have given this a 5-star rating only if I'm not facing problems with large USB drives (like a 64GB thumb drive and a 2TB WD e-HDD). It works well with the 32GB but not with the 64GB (movies pauses on its own, erratic response from the remote control), and i have tested this on 3 different brands 64GB thumb drives and they all have the same problem, I guess the device can't handle such large USB.
