The Honest Kitchen Preference Grain-Free Dehydrated Dog Food 7-Pound AD

酵素を生かしたドックフード、こういうのを待っていました。ウチの犬は健康にいいものを好んでくれます。このドックフードを嬉しそうに食べます。日本のドックフードが余りにも粗悪だったため、質の良いドックフードにやっと出会いました。これからもこちらを食べさせると思います。もっと広く知れ渡ると絶対にペットの健康を考えている人々はこれを食べさせてあげたいと思うでしょう。

My dog has a sensitive stomache and this has done wonders for it. She has had normal bowel movements several times a day with alot of energy, and have seen a huge difference when switching back to her normal food...though I do think we need to add more protein than than the recommend dose on the box since it doesn't seem to be enough food for my dog..but I guess it'll be different for every dog. I use bone broth instead of water, Love how easy it is to prepare she just gobbles it all up!

I normally feed my dogs a homemade, cooked diet and they do very well but when I had surgery, I needed an easier, quicker option. Not wanting to put my dogs back on kibble, I decided to try this Preference Base Mix. It took a little adjusting to figure out just how it would work best for us but it's been a great addition to the feeding program and is now part of our rotation. Here are some observations that may help if this is new to you:- This is radically different from kibble and even from the homemade food I normally feed so I recommend you start with a very small portion added to your dogs regular meal to start and increase slowly over time or you dog may (or may not) get loose stools.- For sure, let it sit longer when you add the water than the instructions say if you have the time. It is very dry and texture will improve if you add water to the mix and put it in the fridge for a couple hours.- A food processor is nice to have for mixing, again, it helps the texture- I did not care for it as much when I tried to feed it as a whole diet. Mainly, the smell of cabbage was very overpowering and digestion is much better when we mix it with the homemade. Every dog is different but I like to use it as a supplement to the regular food and it has worked out extremely well for that.-Again, every dog is different but for us, mixing 1 cup (measure it dry) mix with 1.25 cups water and 2 cups of meat (we use raw beef heart and lean steak) turned out the best. Interestingly, it worked better to mix it with raw meat rather than cooked -although cooked will work too. I then freeze it into small containers and thaw in the fridge overnight as needed. I topdress my dogs cooked homemade diet with this and wow! I just love how they are doing. Although I do not feed entirely raw, I can appreciate the benefits of raw meat for dogs and this has been the perfect way to take the guesswork out of that and get some raw, fresh beef into the diet in a balanced way. Normally we rotate the ingredients we use in the regular diet and then mix Honest Kitchen in the processor with some beef heart and roast or lean beef.-If you have a dog that tends to gain weight, this is a great weight-loss tool! Much healthier than the green bean and pumpkin method and used with lean raw beef - it will produce a lean, muscular body condition in your dog over time. (Hmm, maybe I should eat it, LOL)- There are a couple of other options or 'flavors' of base mix, but by far this one is the one we choose mostly because it contains NO Flax, Rosemary or other unwanted additives. Great product overall and certainly helps support our goal of feeding wholesome foods and avoiding kibble. The beautiful condition of our dogs over time speaks to that!

My dog loves this! I was worried she wouldn't eat it but she gobbles it right up.Got this because at the time we thought was she was in liver failure. I was seeking a way to make sure she got all the recommended nutrition in the right quantities; but that I could control the amount of protein & fat to support her liver as much as possible.Turns out, she does have a compromised liver but it is not what we thought it was. However, I fell in love with this food so I am going to stick with it.It is a bit pricey, I'm lucky that my dog is small, because a big dog would go through this fast. Per the instructions, I add my own protein and vary the type.I premeasure the food into several small containers so I can quickly dump it into her bowl and then add the warm water per instructions, rather than deal with the big box every feeding. It absorbs quickly, then I stir in the protein.You can premix several feedings and store in the fridge for a few days, but I found that less convenient than wetting it as I use it.

My Golden Retriever just turned 8 years old. I've been feeding her HK Preference base mix and adding meat (80% meat/10% bone/10% offal mix) for over a year now. She gobbles it up. She doesn't suffer as many hot spots as before and she has lost about 18 lbs. Full and regular health check from vet ensures she is getting the right nutrients and all is as it should be for a dog of her age. proof is in her coat.While not always convenient (ESP when camping/boarding) I can always switch to the protien added version. Change up the proteins by adding fish, eggs... Turkey or lamb are favourites.Texture may be a big thing with your dog. So try different amounts of water to get a texture that works for you. Just remember to have lots of fresh water on hand!UPDATE September 1: While I still love this product, there is no longer a cost savings in purchasing it on Amazon. The price, up until recently, was $65.99 now it's $86.99. At par with my local pet shop. Buying at the pet shop also means a frequent buyers program which helps soften the blow. Online purchases do not qualify -- unless you are in the US and buy from HK themselves. Amazon - make it worth the online purchase and I'll be back.
