Elkin (Images of America)

I grew up just outside of Elkin. I think this book is very well done. Fantastic job with the amount of pictures, I have bought several of these types of books from the series and this book by far has the most pictures. Very well done!

I have the priviledge of knowing the author of this book and he has done a wonderful job of putting information about our little town together in a way you have to enjoy it. Elkin, is a small town in piedmont N. C. but for years was the hub of the manufacturing of almost all the upholestry for Ford and General Motors Cars, not to mention blankets for the US Army as well as for home use. Great story about a small town that has done a lot in piedmont Norht Carloina.

I purchased the book for myself. I really don't like reading that much, but couldn't put the book down. The pictures were interesting and I had to read about them. Before I knew it, I had finished the book. I purchased a copy for my children and then for my brother and sisters. My grandson loves the book. As we ride through Elkin he tells me when different building were built, what used to be here, etc. I would recommend the book to anyone who ever lived in the Elkin area.
