Bridge of Spies: A True Story of the Cold War

I've ways wanted to read it after watching the movie, and true to that old adage, the book did seem to be better than the movie.

Awesome story. Must have if one enjoys spy stories and/ or tales of the cold war. Also a great peep into what shaped geopolitics in the 1950s and 1960s.

Very meticulously written, capturing times of cold war, narrating era of iron curtain.

As the world drags on towards another cold war, this is a welcome read, one that throws light onto the risks to humanity that avoidable conflicts between powerful nations that are supposed to be rational. Ukraine: Works like The Tug-of-war between Russia and the West shed further light on the risks to humanity that wars pose.

When you're finished this book you'll have a very complete understanding of the whole story and all the issues around Abel, Donovan, Powers, the U-2 program, Pryor etcIf you want everything in 1 book, this is it

この本を選んだ理由は、"cold war"時代のスパイの活躍がアナログ的でエキサイティングと思ったことと、ページ数が264ページであったからです。だけど、手に取ると、活字がーー最近読んだ"stay":Katharine Ryan Hide が300ページ以内で、1 chapter/day で一か月あまりで読み切れました。しかし、文字が小さく、おそらく2~3倍時間が必要になると思われる。文体もなかなか読みづらく、専門用語も多く、辞書と首っ引きで頑張って読んでいます。途中で挫折しない程の exciting storyであることを願っています。

After watching the movie I guess I had expectations that were not fulfilled. The book unlike the movie was simply an historical account of the factual events that took place. It was like a history book rather than historical fiction. But of course other s may well disagree, and nit may be a due to my heightened expectations after seeing the movie.

Well written. Revealing information about the Cold War . Interesting players in the whole historic area.
