Blade looks like high quality. Was difficult for me to replace and have not been able to get aligned properly... cutting blade scrapes on straight edge making awful noise.

The blade works fine. No problems. But the rubber grommet that fits round the blade wheel doesn't last beyond a few weeks reasonably heavy usage. It starts to degrade and rubber bits fall off it. This is turn makes the motion of sliding the blade carriage feel very 'lumpy' and slow. The bits of rubber get between the metal housing. I'm not exaggerating. We have gone through 4 of these. The blades are perfectly usable still, but the rubber has disintegrated to the point where you have to really work hard to push the carriage along the rails. So you have to open the whole thing up and clean the bits of rubber out, but it only lasts a few days, then it does it all again. This grommet should be a separate item, so you can buy the rubber part without having to purchase a whole new set whenever it starts breaking down.

why did I wait so long to replace the blade... It works great and happy about the purchase.

This blade made a world of difference on my Mastercut-II. After years of use the old blade was just ripping the paper rather than cutting it. It's back to new condition. Replacement was easier than it looked. You just need to unscrew the cap nut and tap out the rod with a plastic or brass hammer, preferably. It just took a few taps to get it backed out then put together again. Should take you no more than 5 minutes. The replacement blade comes with the spring but you need to keep the old rod and nut.
