This guide has been remarkable. So far every place we have been - ones visited on our own before receiving the book and now the restaurants we have found as a result of the book - have been very good to excellent. The vast majority of restaurants listed are ones I was not familiar with and would not likely have sought out. Most helpful: The simply price point ratings - $=under $10, $$= under $20, etc. Recommendations for restaurants best items Glossary allowing us to find restaurants by community within Los Angeles Only thing missing: Map showing the various communities in L.A. I'm still trying to figure out what is next to what.

This little gem has lead us to many great eateries, some very close to our home and wouldn't have tried without this rec (there are probably over a thousand small and large restaurants within 4 miles of our home). Very nicely organized, great index in the back as well. I have this book in my car at all times! I have other great LA books like Eat LA and while I love the others and have had them longer this os is quickly becoming my "go-to" book. Many, MANY, thorough reviews, suggested dishes to try, etc. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We've purchased a few of these guides for other cities and thought we should give the local edition a read. It's very informative and entertaining and a great gift for one of our foodie friends.

great guide for foodies!

Very well written and researched! I am impressed with the amount of information and coverage, with LA being such a big city full of many restaurants. The author also manages to find so many different ways to describe food without ever sounding repetitive.

Bought this as a gift for some friends that just moved to L.A. They seem to like it!
