Reiew if "The dogs who found me"
A very well written book which makes one think very deeply about life in general and how we could all do more for those less fortunate than ourselves whether human or animal. A thoroughly enjoyable read which made me smile and chuckle frequently. I would recommend this to everyone.

Moving, Funny and Inspirational
I picked up this book in America and was initialy drawn to it because it was about my favourite thing...dogs. On reading the cover I was a little wary as I can get upset at sad dog stories. I needn't have worried, this book is written in such a way, mixing anecdotes of abandoned dogs, with stories of hope and happiness and reaching out to make a difference, that you come away inspired rather than upset. It is also intersperced with interesting and informing facts on dog rescue/care.Ken Foster's special interest is in rescueing and educating people on, Pit Bull Terriers. I learnt a lot about this breed through reading this book. Because I have had no experience of the breed I too suffered from the popular perception that they are a dangerous dog. read this and you will soon realise it is the shady characters that can be drawn to the breed that are the problem, not the breed itself. This book however, is not just about Pit Bulls, but about every dog.I found myself laughing out loud at some of the stories as I recognised not only my dogs behaviour, but mine too (I know dogs shouldn't sleep in my bed...but) I read the book in one day and enjoyed every minute of it. I put the book down with a renewed sense of hope knowing that there are people out there like Ken Foster and his friends who don't walk on by problems (in this case abandoned dogs), but rather take them on without thought for the rational of it all. I hope that lots of people read this funny insightful book, the more people do, the better the world will be for our best friends. It also includes lots of information on organisations connected to dog rescue and education and even photographic websites, where you can see Ken Foster's dogs (his third dog Sula is the cover girl of the book).Buy it now and then buy it for your friends!

Loved this wonderful book!
I love books about dogs, but I enjoy books about rescued dogs even more. Ken Foster's book "The Dogs Who Found Me" was fantastic! It is funny, uplifting and heartbreaking. I could not put the book down. Mr. Foster pulls the reader into the book with his wonderful story of love and compassion. I feel as if I know Ken Foster and his wonderful dogs through his amazing story telling. His book stayed with me and often times I would find myself thinking about his rescued pups. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who loves dogs and enjoys a vivid, touching story.

For Pet Lovers Everywhere
For all pet lovers, especially those who feel for shelter pets and rescue pets, and for those who know the value of adopting a homeless pet from an animal shelter and giving them a second chance: hear your own voice in Ken Foster’s words; feel your own emotions in his; know the fraternity of sharing the same thoughts as he had; and get swept up in his own journey of how he became an animal advocate, a pet rescuer, and a Pit Bull lover. He has a very engaging, candid and charming writing style, and is a keen observer of the absurd, the tragic, and the humorous.

Heart warming story but writing a bit too much like a column
It's hard NOT to enjoy a book about dogs, especially a book about people who love and rescue dogs. I enjoyed the book, the stories and descriptions of the dogs. Two things though, I did feel like I was reading a series of short columns and not necessary a book stringing together pieces of canine history and especially from the author's perspective. The second thing, no pictures really. However, if you go to the author's website, you see pictures of some of his wonderful companions.

Great book for when you feel alone in your efforts
This book was recommended to me by a woman in Okinawa who rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes dogs. I work at a small animal shelter in Yokosuka, where it is so easy to feel like we are constantly failing. 'The Dogs Who Found Me' helps me feel like there are many others out there, also giving their all and seeing the dogs (and cats) that nobody else sees. Stray animals are a huge problem in Japan, along with puppy/ kitten mills and a prevailing public opinion that you needn't spay/ neuter. Adopting instead of buying from the pet shop is also a relatively new idea and most people don't know the problems of buying. As you can imagine, the pts rate of animals picked up by authorities is around 80%! I read this book right at a time when I actually needed to be lifted up again. I truly recommend it to anyone who has a passion for helping animals who are up against a wall.
