I know this is supposed to be for cutting seatbelts but there is another reason you may want a Talon rescue cutter. There are many documented cases of dogs dying when their jaw gets caught under the collar of the dog they are playing with or vice versa. In these cases owners have not been able to get the collars off or to get the dogs jaw out. Unfortunately this has resulted in one or both dogs dying. By having this cutter available you can cut the collar before it is too late. Regular scissors will not work. Be ready!

The Treck does the job in most cases but there's a learning curve. You have to develop the technique to get the cut started through layers of clothing, or heavy seam binding, etc. Once the cut is started, it's twice as fast as scissors and saves on the repetitive hand motion required by scissors.The size of the handle is a bit of an issue. It is about 1" too long to fit properly in a standard EMS/emergency services trouser cargo pocket, so it sticks out most of the time when carried.

Tried two of these at our company burns. It worked a little better than trauma sheers, but nowhere near as easy as demoed in the vendor demo videos.Still a lot of work to get through fire gear!

Ultimate Tool to remove, clothes in a code or trauma naked situation. Have had a chance to use so far in a code and worked seemlessly and effciently. I would recommend you go online an look at the video for user tips. That was helpful for me.

It does not cut well through turn out gear, that is what I bought it for. It does fit well in a gloved hand but cannot quickly remove a firefighter from superheated gear quickly... very disappointed

Important that it is bright colored. I haven't put it to the task but my life may depend on it because it is mounted in plain sight on my rock buggy.
