Absolutely incredible journal
The media could not be loaded. I bought this writing journal for my fiancé who is really into Egyptian culture and everything about Egypt. His face when he opened it was absolutely priceless. The journal has to be one of the most outstanding pieces of artwork I have seen put together in a writing journal. This is a true keepsake, something you would be very proud to own.The illustrations throughout the ruled plain pages are absolutely out of this world, and the inscriptions on the paper are just unique. This is the nicest journal I think I have ever seen.It is a large book with many pages, plenty of room for you to write and capture you memorable moments. If your thinking about it you will not be disappointed its absolutely incredible. This would make a superb special gift for anyone. The pictures don't do it justice its so much nicer in person.I would buy this journal 10 Times over.A beautiful stunning and gorgeous timepiece of brilliance. We love it.

Whitewashed depiction of goddess Hathor
I think it’s a beautiful journal, however goddess Isis, a derivative of the goddess Hathor and Sopdet, was depicted as a black woman in Ancient Egypt. For evidence, you can see paintings and statues of her as a black woman with a broad nose in Pharoah Hatshepsuts (who herself was black) tomb. It was devastating to see my favourite goddess depicted incorrectly, as a white woman with a thin nose. Please stop whitewashing black history. I would urge you to reprint with more historically correct depictions in your future products.

Much More than Just a Journal
While I like the publications that Fairchild has put out before, everywhere I saw this journal sold online only had a picture of the cover. While the price is a bit steep for what you would normally pay for a paperback journal this is much more! I am so glad I took a chance and bought this sight unseen. It is larger than I expected and is the size of a larger paperback novel and has a medium thickness. It has matte thick print stock on the outside with flaps folding in on each cover (front and back). I'm not sure if this is for holding notes, but it is an interesting feature.Inside there is an introduction that runs several pages and then you get into the journal itself. Lots of pictures from the oracle deck in a semi-gloss matte finish and most pages are lined. As you can see from some of the pics, some are left blank and have graphic designs in the corners. Every few sections there are words at the bottom for inspiration in your writing. As you can see from the picture showing the binding head on, there are a lot of photos in this book. Also, note, the few parts I have looked at there are no pages with pictures that are blank on the backside (picture back-to-back picture). This way you are not writing on the back-side of a picture and messing with it. (Someone put some thought into this!) Like I said, I haven't had a chance to look at everything, but this feature seemed to be pretty consistent. This is a wonderfully thought out journal and as you flip through it feels more like a printed book. Something I haven't seen before. If you are looking for a journal that has blank/lined pages without being broken up, this is probably not for you. I feel the function is very akin to a thought or prayer journal and am really looking forward to using it.I hope this review will help with your purchase decision, but if I had been able to know this much about this item before, I would have purchased it last year.Happy Journaling!
