Very Pleased with this Slow Cooker
I purchased this particular slow cooker after doing some research on 6-qt. units. I have two 3 1/2-qt. slow cookers and I wanted a larger one so I could make larger quantities. This particular unit was very much in my price range and I decided to go for it. So far I have been very happy with it.This slow cooker has three temperature settings - Warm, Low and High. Low and High should be obvious for anyone who uses slow cookers. Heating so far has been even and consistent. The Warm setting is not for cooking but to maintain temperature after cooking is complete. My smaller crock pots do not have this feature so this feels like a luxury to me now.The lid also locks in place so that the slow cooker can be transported with food in it with a reduced risk of spilling the contents. There's a latch for clamping the lid down and it is neither too tight nor too loose - it feels about right. If the slow cooker is properly secured (such as in a box) so that it does not tip, spilling should be minimized. One concern I had when researching was that I saw many complaints regarding pressure build-up and ultimately shattered lids while transporting locking-lid slow cookers. I did not see any reports of that with this particular slow cooker and now that I have it, it's obvious why this is the case. Hamilton Beach apparently pays attention to the reports as well and they have made an adjustment to this slow cooker to eliminate the issue - there are two steam holes in the lid that prevent the pressure from building up. According to the documentation that comes with the slow cooker, the heating temperatures have been adjusted to compensate for these holes, and in using this slow cooker I would agree that the holes in the lid seem to have no effect on the cooking times and temperatures. The lid and liner are dishwasher safe. This is a nice bonus for those who prefer not to wash by hand. I likely will not rely on the dishwasher for cleaning my slow cooker but it's nice to know that I have the option.Overall, I am very satisfied with this slow cooker and based on my experience I am happy to recommend it. It is priced right and it works well.

Basic, No spills even on hills and twisties!!
Bought this Slow Cooker after much research and debate. I needed a travel cooker for my families gatherings and this one is marketed as a "Stay or Go" which it does both perfectly. I was not concerned about bells and whistles and wanted a basic, durable and travel ready 10-15 year cooker. The unit arrived in timely fashion and after a good washing of the stoneware was put to work within two hours of opening the box. My first item up to make was chili for a cookout and this required transporting it. I was nervous because I have and had similar cookers from other manufactures but they all fail at keeping liquid sealed in the stoneware. This cooker did not fail with my Chili which I make a little thin so that cracker lovers have some soup, it kept its composure quite well and didn't spill a drop (keep in mind I was driving up 45 degree hills and speeding to make it on time). The hinged lid makes serving and keeping food covered easy. The latching mechanism and controls both while very basic have the feel that this will be around a long time. The rubber seal on the lid is not the typical round bead but more of a rubber flap that seals tight and securely. This unit also has very sturdy handles on the sides and these collapse to take up less room in your kitchen cabinet. Cooking times seems to be on par with my older units and I have not noticed any "over heating" the food on the lowest setting and in fact the chili after the cookout was done (on low the whole time - outside!) was still 193 degrees which is on par with my older cookers. Very happy with this purchase and wish I could find the same one in white, as the stainless is very attractive almost too much that you want to pamper it.So there you have it, I purchase items after I exhaust online reviews and for my money this is the perfect "BASIC" Stay or Go cooker that delivers great cooking, easy cleaning, and NO SPILLS!! Thanks for reading.

An excellent machine at a very low price
We have now used this for two meals. Very pleased with the product. We had been using an old Rival crock pot which did the job. But it was 4 quart and we wanted a 6 quart machine. We found several on Amazon that were a lot more expensive. It seems that if you want a programmable one then it can kick the price up two to three times this one.Having used a crock pot for almost 40 years now we couldn't imagine what we would want to "program." That's the beauty of a crock pot---you dump the stuff in and turn it on. In addition, when there are more features there are more ways something could stop working. So, for $22 we got everything we wanted: It has a to-go feature (top attaches securely), the pot itself is removable for washing, there are three settings (high, low, warm), and it looks nice. The top also flips up so no longer do we need to find somewhere to place it when we are adding ingredients---so the top can be attached in one or two places or removed completely for cleaning. We are delighted with the purchase. The price-point is excellent. One can cook great meals using real food quite easily and with no waste. Since we received it a week ago we have cooked turkey soup and pork/poblano-pepper burritos. Yum!
