I grew up chopping kindling and twisting newspapers to get a fire started. These days I’m a little old to be swinging the axe, and I haven’t seen a physical newspaper in years. These little guys do a great job. I tuck one partly under a split log, light it, then tuck a couple other split logs around it. Soon the hot, long-lasting flames from the fire starter have caught, the logs are going and we have the night’s blaze warming up the fireplace.

Not the easiest to get started, I'd like to see some sort of pull-out wick instead of lighting the wrapper. Depending on the orientation, sometimes the flame goes out before igniting the material. Once lit however, it seems to work well. I usually augment the process with lighter fluid, which seems redundant.At this price, these seem a better value than the more reliable but more expensive competition.Will probably purchase again.

Much perfer to use these as a way to start a fire, rather than ones that you have to take off the wrapper and break up yourself. I worry about what chemicals are getting into your skin with those products.These work great and easy to use. Unfortunately they are hard to find in stores, so Amazon had solved that problem.

Worked great to start my cherry wood fire. Starter log was easy to light and in a few minutes was fully burning. Makes starting a wood fire very easy.

I buy these for my fireplace fair. Easy to use and works well.
