Don't expect steel guitar and fiddles here: This is pure symphonic pop and a kind of ode to the cinematic string arrangements--not of Nashville, but of Nelson Riddle, or the classic seasonal recordings of Bing Crosby. The selection is tasteful if conservative, though Gill sings every chestnut expertly and even digs a bit deeper on the religious material. The only surprise is the Amy Grant-composed title cut, the album's one undeniably soulful moment. A voice as clear as the stars...
A little artistic license taken with my title, but for me, a deaf person who cannot hear most tones of human speech and that includes music, Vince Gill still remains one of the few very clear artists that I can hear enough when the amps are jacked up in my car. Maybe next year, I won't be able to hear him. I don't know when those tones will go, but I am so grateful for his beautiful voice on Christmas music that I love. I especially adore his spiritual music (rather than the secular stuff) and wish he would do an album of nothing but spiritual Christmas music (hint, hint). Amy Grant's Breath of Heaven is one of the most heart-tugging songs of our generation, and was most assuredly inspired. So the combination of Grant's words and Gill's voice is spectacular.One suggestion for the music industry. You guys keep believing the stereotype that deaf and hard-of-hearing people cannot enjoy music. You are wrong...and we are a population that will buy. But I most often choose to buy music with the words in the flyer inside the CD case. I do not have the time with my work in bioethics and education to go looking all over the Internet for the lyrics.Again, Gill's Christmas music is a definite need for your Christmas collections.Karen Sadler

This is by far the best Christmas song I have ever heard
I heard this song on the radio and didn't know who was singing it. They only played it a few times during Christmas so I was listening to the words very carefully. I had never heard the song before and didn't even know the title. I thought "Breath of Heaven " might be it. I found a web site were I could sample a bit of the song and realized it was Vince Gill. I had to have this CD. This is by far the best Christmas song I have ever heard. Thank you.

Love the songs.
Love this CD, it's the 3rd one we've had. 1 got broken and 1 we let someone borrow. We love listening to this during Christmas decorating and all through the Christmas season.

Best Christmas CD Ever!
This is the singularly best Christmas music CD I have EVER heard!! It's a real must buy for anyone who already has the holiday spirit or to bring it back if you're wishing you could! This is my second purchase of this same CD so that I could have a copy for work where I could share it with others while still keeping one home. If either copy ever wears out, I'll gladly even buy another.

I love this CD
I love this CD. Lots of traditional Christmas music, and a couple newer ones that are just beautiful. I also love Vince's soft acoustical version of Blue Christmas, a song I never liked by Elvis, but completely different in this rendition. Definitely a Christmas favorite.

Love It!
This is my second copy of this CD - one to permanently keep in car. The songs are beautiful and Vince Gill's voice is just so pure and clear it's amazing. Mary's Song and A Child in Bethlehem are two of my favorites. I'm not usually a country fan but this cd is too good to pass up. Very soothing.

have just received this CD....mid April. I did play it, but was a bit disappointed with orchestra accompaniment, it was almost non existant. Vince Gill's voice ad usual, excellent. I'm hoping it will be better in December!
