Dreams of Perfection

I have mixed views on this.
This book is an amalgamation of several genres all at once. It weaves the story around a sci-fi, fantasy world, exploring bits and pieces from mythology and brimming with mystery for the whole 600-page long journey. It starts with showing us a glimpse of Indian high-school life, and we meet some of our main characters here. Arine is a nerdy girl with only two best friends - but what happens when one of them is erased from existence and wiped from everyone's memory by a never-before-seen creature. Will Arine sit by and watch? The book is highly descriptive, which often works wonderfully for the story arc. But it also gets monotonous at times. The world-building feels abrupt, and as it often happens with the genre at hand, we get an information dump all at once, and it's hard to keep a straight track. But once you get a hold of the various characters and creatures and get used to terms like 'Mentis Confringetur' and names like 'Luminosite and Tenebres,' the story can be enjoyable. I specifically enjoyed the spooky feel of the dialogues in the antagonistic interactive scenes. The atmospheric writing style works brilliantly at such times.Despite some unnecessarily dragged parts, the inclusion of Greek mythology and advanced AI compelled me to the story. These are some of my favorite tropes to find in a book. It's appreciative to see more sci-fi/ fantasy books coming from Indian authors. He has creatively incorporated several components to the story that sci-fi and fantasy book lovers would dig. However, something that irked me a bit was a bit of sizeist language used at the beginning of the book while describing a character and oversimplification of sexual assault in a part of the story, despite the many revolutionary turns the writing community has taken lately. That could've easily been avoided, but this is just my personal view.

Book Review
I love this book. I love this world. I love Abarrane. It’s one of my favourite book. It's fantastic, it's a great start, and if you haven't read it yet, DO IT. And then remember that the book just get better from here, exponentially better.Honestly, I can’t do justice to all the well-developed characters in this book, so I’ll just say that all of them are fully three-dimensional and intriguing. Honestly, there’s not one thing I didn’t love about Abarrane. Impressive, considering how difficult it is to make me truly like a heroine.Dreams of Perfection moves at a decent pace, with lots of action set in a fabulously complex, detailed world. The world is a character all itself. The world building was flawlessly integrated into the story, and I never got hopelessly lost in it, though I was completely immersed.I highly recommend this book if you haven’t started it already. Dreams of Perfection a heart warming story, set in a vivid, ever-changing world with characters that fairly jump off the page and make you beg for more!!

Must Read
“Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it”. The line as stated above has a poignant relationship with the overall context of the book at hand for the same revolves around the fantasy element which raises many questions about the existing reality.

More of such books please!!
I have to say that G.C Nightwalker writing is high class. He sets the scenes very well, using language in just the right way, to keep the story flowing forward. He employs the noir elements that I enjoy in fantasy novels very well.Better yet, he treats the reader with respect, understanding that popular fiction readers like to be challenged and fully engaged. He seems to understand that just because we enjoy fantastic, escapist material, it doesn't mean that we want to read something meaningless and without substance. As I read this book, my brain, which always tries to make order and sense of things, tried to think of a way to categorize and classify this book and the world within it. I never came up with a concrete classification. But that's a good thing. It's nice to find something new within a well-loved genre, and to encounter a novel reading experience at the same time. This book delivered that to me.
