Great book for Virgin Islands trees
We are in the process of buying a house in the U.S. Virgin Islands that has a long list of fruit and but trees on the property. This book is well written and makes it much easier to tell which tree is which. It also provides a wealth of important information about things you may not expect (like that cashew nuts have a poisonous skin that must be removed and some fruits are toxic if not treated properly).

A Great Guide for Trees of the Virgin Islands.
To learn about the trees of the Virgin Islands, this is a great and inexpensive place to start. It covers 90 different trees with over 500 picture. For each species, there is a description of the original origin, the plant, leaves, bark, flowers, fruit, habitat and uses. There is a list of twenty references used in writing the book. The part that attracted me the most was the completeness of the section on the uses by mankind for the various trees and their parts. The author even has kind words to say about the usefulness of the very poisonous Manchioneel Tree.

Outstanding Reference Book
I really like the book and enjoyed the trees I had taken in pictures during a Caribbean cruise a year ago. The book was very informative. The tree photos were outstanding as well.
