I read the great reviews and finally decided to purchase my first light fixture online. After months of looking, this beauty showed up and it was absolutely perfect. It is great quality and looks amazing in my living room.The drum is brownish (not grey) and it gives off beautiful light. I have it on a dimmer switch as well. Absolutely recommend!

I love this light.- Almost every other drum light we were interested in was in the $400+ range. At about $150 from Amazon (with Prime free shipping), this light was a steal.- The quality of the product is high, especially given the price point.- It's beautiful. The design is gorgeous in person. It may be my favorite light in the house. This is saying a lot because I've just updated every light in the house (with some at over 10 times the cost of this light).- Actual colors and look: (1) the metal is oil rubbed and not aged bronze so it appears a smooth brown, which gives it a modern feel, but it works very well with our casual comtemporary house (most of our furniture is from ReHa),(2) the shade looks short and wide (a flatter look versus the taller beefier looking drums - it's pleasing), (3) the color of the shade: dark gray 1/3 inch rings at the top and bottom and the middle section looks like black/dark gray denim that is backlit (go to the Amazon picture of it, click on enlarge, it looks more black than the picture yet also lighter because the light from the lamp shines a warm beige color in between the black thread lines - obviously difficult to describe, but it's very pretty), the picture on the site makes it look gray and washed out, but it's not, (4) the opaque diffuser on the bottom: I've seen a reviewer on another site complain about it being plastic and cheap looking. I disagree, it's plastic, but does not look cheap at all. There's a warm glow from it. (5) Assembly was easy. The only part that took time was the threading of the wires and ground through the chain.- Not sure if the other reviewer just got a bad shipment, but mine came with decent instructions and the ceiling mount had all the required pieces. Since I've put a number of these up now with our lighthing update project, it was very easy to install myself.- FYI, I installed it over a deep dark brown 54" table. I have a 10 foot ceiling. I dropped it 48 inches from the ceiling which gave it 33 inches above the table. The size was perfect for the 54" table.- Because our builder originally installed the light in this room a foot off of center (they centered to the space and did not take into account the side cabinet), I chose to swag the light (meaning I bought a brown ceiling hook assembly from Ace and looped the chain from the original box) instead of moving the box, to save money and not have to call an electrician to move the box, and because I thought that this particular light might look better with the swag. The swag caused me to use the entire length of the included chain. I would not have been able to do this with a higher ceiling. Anyway, I was right. It swag gave it a lot more oomph than just a straight drop. I'll post a picture if I can figure out how to do that on Amazon.CONCLUSION: Great looking, good quality light for under $150. No shipping if you are a Prime member and no taxes (until the state governments figure out how much money they are losing because everyone is buying from Amazon these days with free shipping, lower prices and no taxes). :-)Buy this light. We are more than please with it.

This fixture is very stylish and I can't imagine it not enhancing the style and appearance of any room it was placed in. I hung it over my round, glass top dining table. The shade is large but would still look good over a small dining table. The height of the shade itself is actually 8", not the 7" described in the product description. I was happy about that because I was afraid 7" would not look so good. I had some apprehensions about ordering this after reading other reviews that mentioned problems with the diffuser not setting level but fortunately mine was level. However, I did have some trouble getting the entire shade to hang level. After playing with the link and hook that the fixture stem hangs from and loosening and readjusting/tightening the shade, I was able to get it to hang level. I have a dimmer switch for the fixture and it looks so nice on any level of brightness. It gives a soft, ambient glow which I love as I hate harsh lighting. I put 60 watt bulbs in mine but you can go up to 100 watt. The color is exactly as it appears on the website- sort of a charcoal. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the workmanship in the shade is lacking. The black piping (trim) around the top and bottom of the shade is not applied in a consistently straight line and on the top of the shade there are little bits of white fabric poking up where the 3 ribs of the shade meet it. I was able to trim these off with manicure scissors but nothing I can do about the unevenly applied piping. I doubt anyone else will notice this flaw but I am aware of it so it bothers me. It isn't so off that I felt it justified returning the fixture though.

so, i'm into hanging shades right now. i was a little worried when the installer/friend remarked that its size was mammoth. they claimed i could use "it" as a dining table. i bought a smaller home and decided that i'd make a dining space in my kitchen, next to the patio doors. i'm using the dining room as additional living rm space. the old lamp was...old/outdated/frumpy. this lamp meant, snatch frumpy out, put new and sharp in its place. but mr. installer and his assistant were teasing about how huge it was. i re-checked the measurements and have finally seen it hanging. it fits the space perfectly. it probably seemed large in the box on the floor. hanging, it makes a clean polished statement. there's actually a pendant that matches at a fantastic price. i'm going to resist getting it. this lamp gives a small area an air of dining purpose w/o wasting and entire rm . i just love this lamp. i've purchased 3 shade pendants. all are nice but this is my fav. i can't wait to place my glass top dining table underneath and add dining chairs. great buy; makes a quiet statement.
