But actually it is region Free - Mitch became caught up with his career as a sport commentator and journalist. He ignored his girlfriend and did not make time to do things in life that are of the most value to a human being. Morrie was one of Mitch's professors in college and a famous scholar. One day Mitch was watching television and saw Morrie giving an interview stating that he is dying of Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS.

Touches your heart
I bought this movie after I read the book. It follows the book very well. It is about the growth of a professor who is dying of ALS and his student who comes to visit him after seeing the professor on Nightline with Ted Koppel. They learn from each other and help each other at the same time. This is a true story. Both book and movie really touched my heart.

Tuesdays with Morrie/DVD/movie
Jack Lemmon was wonderful in his role as Morrie showing his own authentic aging in this movie which helped make the story more genuinely real. I have shown this true life story to my high school students, and it has brought tears to their eyes and an inkling of what lessons one can learn through experiecing even death--especially, such a devastating one as ALS. There were some changes in the movie of some aspects of the book TUESDAYS with MORRIE ,which is all the more reason to read the book as well which is totally factual. The ABC documentary of Ted Koppel's interviews with Morrie and the author--Mitch Ablom--is a perfect followup to the movie---extremely insightful, showing the reality of death, disease, and most of all, love and hope! The Lessons of Life-- ABC's Ted Koppel's three interviews with Morrie as the disease progressed throughout his body but not his spirit--- are inspirational and touching!!

Great film
Tuesdays with Morrie I read the book version of this film as an assignment in college, so when I saw there was a video I decided to get it and see how it compared. There are some slight differences, like with any adaptation to film, but overall the film maker did a great job with this one. After viewing this for myself, I decided I would get a copy for several of my family members, who are less avid readers than myself. Everyone has loved it so far. It is a great story and will lift your heart (and perhaps bring a tear). A MUST SEE for everyone who faces difficult health problems or family members who do. It will give a new perspective of life and help to refocus your energy into something more positive.

Tuesadya With Morrie
Having read the book and listened to the CD of the book (narrated by Mitch Albom, the author of it), I found that the film, staring Jack Lemon and Hank Azaria, did a pretty good job of handling this quite moving story. Mr. Lemon portrays Morrie quite well and the film does a decent job of showing what ALS does to the individual who has it. While each person with ALS goes through a similar process, how each deals with it and the affect is has on him/her varies greatly. I highly recommend this film to anyone preparing students to work with people with disabilities.

Wonderful Book and Movie
I enjoyed the book 'Tuesdays with Morrie', I had to get the movie, I was not disppointed. I have recommended this book and movie to everyone I know. This book and movie showed me how to appreciate my family, life, and the simple things in life. At my job (a major university)I recommend this book to the annual 'Books that Inspire' committee and it will be put on display with my essay why this book inspired me. The only thing I have found wrong has nothing to do with the movie but the movie cover; it boast of four emmy awards, but from my research it only received three (picky, picky or my research was incomplete). It still receives 5 stars from me because the cover does not count.

What a great (and true) story of living well and dying well.Unless you're exceptional or uncaring, this will change you.
This true story is so well done in movie form! It is one the whole family should watch, because most of us will go thru something like this in our lifetime. Morrie is open about his thoughts and feelings, which is helpful for his friends and family in caring for him. He accepts dying as part of living his life. Many people prefer to not think about the end - but doing so is a great guide for living each season of life. This is not just for women, and not just for men - it will touch everyone: all ages and genders.

Thought provoking
Provided you can push to one side the typical Oprah Winfrey-style neatly packaged American glossiness, this story and the characters and aphorisms within it make for absorbing, thoughtful viewing. I've even used the film as the basis for discussions around life/death issues. Also great to see the much missed and delightful Jack Lemmon in what I imagine was his last role (he died 2 years after this film was made).

Amazing
Bought this for my brother who lives in Canada for his birthday. It is region 1 North America and Canada. I had read the book and watched the film on a cable channel here in UK. My brother is a 'Mitch Albom' fan. My brother told me it was amazing. He enjoyed every minute especially Jack Lemmon's portrayal of Morrie. He plans to watch it again and recall all the 'lessons' that it brings to living. Truly inspiring.

One to watch.
This film is fantastic. I read Mitch Albom's book many years ago and watched the film on video. Now I fortunately have the DVD. This is based on a true story and is sensitive, amusing, and just brilliant. It is also very sad.

A life changing film, A MUST SEE
All I say is that all the reviews on this page bar one, say it all.Truly a life changing film which I once saw on TV and had to buy to watch again and show others. It really ghits the nail on the head about life and how relationships can shape us and change us for good or bad etc. It's a intelligently made film, a vehicle for a life's worth of wisdom and a way to show how if we explore it's examples, we can change and understand the past and future and live life to its full.I can't explain, you MUST SEE it, and well if you do you will realise what i am saying. I never usually give review but this is great stuff, and a great performance by Jack Lemon who really does do a cracking job.as for the only bad review by a guy claled "Mr.McCeltic", well he obviously hasn't seen the film, because if he did he'd have changed his life and taken something from it, or else if he has seen it, well, what can we say, there are people out there who hate good things and despise love and wisdom. There will always be people who say black is white and good is bad... you can't please everyone in today's society and fo course in an age where prisons are full, crime is soaring, etc, of course there will always be people out there for whom great things are 'rubbish', so I wouldn't worry about negative reviews, as if you watch the film you can't disagree with it, unless you have an opposite philosophy.
