HIC Porcelain Deviled Egg Dish, 13-inch

Given as a gift. While it is plain, it holds 24 deviled egg halves and is exactly what the recipient wanted.

Oh it's worth it to have this wonderful plate on hand. You can't serve deviled eggs well on ordinary plates. They will list and slide miserably, making everyone unhappy. You need a plate specifically designed for the purpose even if you only use it once a year! This is a simple yet very handsome large platter that beautifully presents your lovely eggs. It has 24 deep enough indentations that hold halved or whole eggs very nicely. So if you are making deviled eggs you have no leftovers from one dozen which is certainly not the case with my disappointing and overwrought Portmerion plate. This plate is made of a rather clunky earthenware though the glaze is a nice clear white, making it quite sturdy and attractive. As for the indentation in the center, well you could put anything there from salt to a rose but not an egg.

I really enjoy using this dish when I have parties at the house because it provides a great visual display of my deviled eggs. It's heavy and feels solid so I don't feel like it will break during use or cleaning. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with a cover. It's not a problem when you are ready to eat the eggs, it is a problem when you are storing the eggs in the dish in the fridge and you want to keep them covered.
