Such a delightful read!
If you are into paranormal stuff and wants to read a good middle-grade book, grab the copy of The haunting of Lavender Raine. The story is really fast-paced, you can finish this book in a single sitting. The writing style keeps you hooked. It has some creepy moments ( which I'm sure, younger readers will enjoy a lot)I loved our protagonist, Lavender a lot.I also loved how the author focused on healthy relationships. Most of the time kids( younger readers/early teens) don't know the difference between a toxic relationship and a good, healthy relationship.I was expecting lots of twists and turns and scary stuff. But since this book is aimed at younger readers, there's isn't gory horror.I am glad I got an ARC of this book. Reading it was a delightful experience.Looking forward to reading more books by the author :)

Great spooky read!
Lavender has lost her mother's locket...a locket she shouldn't have been wearing. It's a special heirloom that had belonged to her grandmother that recently passed away so finding it is really important. However, there are other things lurking in the woods...like a ghost that keeps showing up and it refuses to leave her alone. What does it want from her? This was such a fast, fun and spooky middle grade read! I completely devoured this in about an hour and it was absolutely delightful! This novel touches on so many topics such as family, relationships, loss of loved ones and grief. I really liked Lavender's best friend, Rosie, and Lavender's grandma's cat, Blot. Blot reminded me a lot of my own cats.I didn't find this to be scary at all. It is more on the mysterious side with a few moments of surprise. And, it is a bit haunting with a few moments of eeriness as well. The ending wraps up wonderfully. I love a book that has a fantastic ending!I would most definitely recommend this for young readers and for anybody who enjoys books of a shorter length.

Spooky, cute, with valuable life lessons
This an artful combination of support, fun, and creepiness for a middle grade reader. The story is short and thus full of action, getting right into the thick of the spooky twist in Lavender Raine's life. With Lavender experiencing some hiccups with her best friend Rosie, Jessica Renwick interweaves into important topics of friendship, healthy relationships, and family into the ghost story. Nancy Drew meets Goosebumps in this chillingly endearing paranormal investigator mystery that will delight and haunt middle grade readers

A ghost story with a life lesson
Lavender and her best friend remind me of The X-files. One believes, the other does not. I could totally see this pair solving more ghost mysteries together. It's a cute story with an underlying lesson for adolescent girls.Great story for middle-grade readers.
