Drumwell Ltd Sea-Monkeys on Mars

Briefly: It was somewhat educational. Did not live up to child's anticipation. Not too expensive, so overall SEA MONKEYS ARE WORTH IT.I bought this for my daughter a while ago (age 7?). We were both excited--as I never had this as a kid. She thought of sea monkeys as another pet. She had fun feeding them and anticipating what would happen. It was exciting to keep looking for the creatures, and eventually we identified the monkeys we were looking for. However, she was really hoping to get cartoonish creatures with eyes (like on the packaging picture) and thought they would build a kingdom, etc.--to her disappointment. So, we got into the scientific learning aspect, and we learned a little about brine shrimp and what-ever the miniature type of shrimp sea-monkeys really are. She wasn't/isn't too great at taking care of things, so I had to monitor this project often. For lack of maintenance, they did totally dry out a few times, and did come back to life. After a while, the monkey "world" looked gross and we didn't want to keep buying stuff to maintain them.

I love watching my seamonkeys in the Mars tank, but it is actually quite hazardous for them. Seamonkeys swim aimlessly and thus constantly bump into the little floating astronaunt. They often get injured and die prematurely. You can tell they are injured by a black mark or dot on them. At the very least if you insist on getting this, for the sake of the lives of your future pets, cut off the astronaunt by his attached cord. Otherwise I'd just recommend getting the empty standard tank. It's larger and allows for more seamonkeys to populate. You know, like the fish only grow as big and as many as their habitat allows.

I ordered the Sea Monkeys on Mars kit for my office, and I absolutely love it. I have had my tank up for about a month, and I have several adults swimming around. I really like the look of this tank. It's fun to watch them swim around the arches and the spaceship.I have a million bubble air pump, and I use it on the days when I am at work. If you only have the aqua leash, you can attach a small air stone (from the aquarium store) to the end of it to make little bubbles. Put it in the water, push the air out, pull the aqua leash out of the water, get more air, put it back in the water, etc...I feed them about once a week.The instructions that come with the kit are not the best. Go to [...] for better instructions. There is also a forum at [...] that is very helpful if you have questions.

Well, after following the directions perfectly we have absolutely zero life. I was excited to share with my wife and kids what they have never seen before. Unfortunately, they have seen water before and that is all that was on Mars. Total dud.

The Sea Monkey gift was well received by my 6 year old nephew and his parents. Was good gift for 4-7 year old age group, male or female.

I am so excited to have gotten this. I just bought another tank of sea monkeys about a week ago but I didn't know that it didn't come with the water leash to give the little monkeys their air so I figured I would go ahead and get this one that comes with it. I also have a 3 year old son that loves the art of Sea Monkeys On Mars. It is nice to have something we can share together. We both enjoy them very much and my favorite part about it all is that they all have the same name, my son has named them all Bob.

I set up this sea monkey tank on my desk at my office. My baby sea monkeys are growing rapidly and are enjoyed by all my coworkers! Whenever I get stressed out, I just take five and watch the little guys swim around, then I am recharged and ready to jump back into my tasks. Thanks, sea monkeys!
