Easier to adjust than wedge-type kebiki
This is a nice tool, I use these much more often than I expected. It turns out to be terrific for cutting consistent strips of corrugated cardboard I use for models and prototypes, and also for splitting thin strips of wood along the grain, which is one of the original uses for these. You make repeated cuts on both sides, using the same reference edge, and then break the wood at the cut line. The resulting edge needs some planing to clean it up, but it's very effective on soft wood up to maybe 1/4" thickness. Probably more common is to use this as a marking gauge, or more precisely a "cutting gauge" since it leaves a knife line rather than a v-shaped pin line. The rapid adjustment of this one is very handy. The other two I have use a wedge in a tapered mortise for locking the arm, and that can be a little finicky. This one is on the short side at 90mm. The other two I have (also bought here on Amazon) are 120mm long and are easier to register when the arm is extended out further. This is an inexpensive model, maybe an affordable DIY version in Japan, where it is made. But it is very serviceable and its somewhat loose tolerances are the bar/body fit do not seem to affect its repeatability. I'm glad to have it and use it frequently.

On the mark...
I build small keepsake boxes and use two of these on a regular basis. I have the more modern roller type but these give a very clean, precise cut line every time. Yes, they are a bit old school, but the design has been in use for hundreds of years. great product!!

Good wood kit addition.
Quality wood. Cut's better with the grain than my wheel marker, but the wheel marker gut's better across the grain. Sharp cutter don't ask. Be careful when takin out of box. It was sticking out of the storage cut out. Overall a good marker.

Accurate and efficient marking gauge.
Excellent marking gauge. Makes a clean and deep mark with and against the grain. Simple design easy to set and adjust quickly. Seems a bit pricey BUT it works well and that's always a good buy to me. I love the simplicity of the design. I would recommend this product to any woodworker, carpenter or DIY person.

Very Nice Tool
Easy to use and works very well. It not only marks well but I have also used it to cut very thin wood to make my own Kumiko strips.

Works perfect!
Iโve been a professional furniture maker for 45 years . I have some expensive marking gauges including the latest ones. This one is better, and cuts a cleaner line than any of them for $20.
