Thought provoking critical analysis of human nature.
The book starts with a plane crash that strands a group of schoolboys on a tropical island. Now as theyâre civilized English boys, they try to recreate order and law there by nominating one of them(Ralph)as the leader. On the first impression it seemd to me that the novel is gonna be an adventure story. But I was so wrong yet quite right because it surely was an adventure through the vertical movements of human nature and morality..As the book continues the group of the boys seem to loose their decency and splits into two parties(Jack's and Ralph's)one of which plunged themselves into savagery and the other still struggling to establish order and to be rescued. In this circumstances friendship turned into rivalry, innocence turned into evil and order into chaos..Set during WWII,âLord of The Fliesâallegorically explores the underlying barbarism and obsession of power that only lead to destructions.Being a school teacher,Golding had wisely chosen the schoolboys as his characters to give his novel an wider reach. This novel is not only a classic with the revealation of human psyche, lots of symbols, shivering scenes and tragic events happened to the sympathetic characters like piggy and Simon but also a thought-provoking parody that would make you question âwhat are we? Humans? Or animals? Or savages? â.Iâll give it 4 â/5 â and suggest to study a little about this book after finishing it.

Different take on governance and human nature!
Had different set of expectations from the book and it turned out be different. This book is supposed to be part of curriculum for many schools but I highly doubt many of children will understand it though! First of all the narration isn't free flowing like a novel and some of the incidents seem far fetched and unbelievable for the age group which is part of the story. Apart from those problems the book is good in other aspects. Story is good and what author tries to convey through the story reaches you once you complete the book. The book is about governance and human nature and nature to governance. The book is about group of kids stuck in an island after the crash who try to govern themselves with rules and fail miserably. The book is a good read!
