Would this cause enough smoke in the kitchen to cause a problem with an asthmatic?

They don't really produce a lot of smoke. It did set off the smoke detector after a while though.

Does this smoker work on a Glass stovetop? Thank you in advance

I know this question is over a year old; however, this answer may help someone else who has the same question. Quote directly from Camerons' website: "CAUTION: If you have a flat top/glass top or ceramic top stove, please check with your stove manufacturer or your stove manual to make sure you can use an oversized piece (a piece that is larger than the element portion of your cooktop)."

Can wood pellets be used instead of wood chips?

The chips ignite very quickly and generate a lot of smoke in 2-3 minutes, at which point you close the lid. I seriously doubt same result with pellets.

Do you put chips under the foil ?

Under the foil and drip pan. You don't need a lot of chips either a tablespoon or 2. Go on you tube and look up Camerons stovetop smoker to watch video which better explains and is very helpful.

A real energy and wood saver. First try at smoked salmon used 3 tablespoons of fine wood chips. Wrapped good in foil to keep the smoke down, still need an exhaust running over the stove. Only had minor smoke smell in the house. This will be exceptional when the weather is good to smoke outside, small grill a small amount of charcoal versus firing up a big smoker.
