The best manual milk frother.
I bought this as a gift for my father, who had purchased a similar frother while on business in Europe several years ago (for much more money, I might add) and was heartbroken when the glass finally shattered. As the name suggests, this is used to "froth" milk into a foam, which is great for those of us that occasionally enjoy a nice cappuccino (or latte) but have no desire to invest in an expensive and large machine for this purpose. The directions are simple: fill milk up to the fill line, move the little black knob up and down quickly for thirty seconds (or so), and then microwave for thirty seconds (or so). All of this is easily adjustable to personal preference. We were surprised to find that this frother worked much better than my father's original frother, requiring less effort to get the milk foamy. Of course, it suffers from the same pitfall of being fragile, but as long as you don't drop it or knock it over you should be fine. The removable no-skid base helps. Overall, we're very impressed with this frother. The quality of every piece is great, from the net to the plunger to the glass, and the froth it makes is great! I even ended up caving and ordering one for myself.

Much sturdier than you'd expect, great foam!
When I first received this I was a little surprised at how fragile it felt and appeared. I used it VERY carefully at first, heating my milk in another container first, while heating this up in a bowl of warm water so that it didn't shatter. Looking back, wow, was I being silly. I've had this for just shy of a year and now I put it in the microwave, dishwasher and honestly, I'm not that careful with it. It's much more solid than it looks. As far as it's ability to froth, honestly, it's terrific. I only have one thing to complain about and that is that if I get too carried away with the plunger, hot milk spurts out of the pour spout, but that is mentioned as a possibility in the directions. Personally, I think that if they just went to a plastic molded lid (which would need a few air holes on the top for air movement/suction issues) that included/covered the pour spout then it would be perfect! I'm still giving it 5 stars though as I now don't know what I'd do without it. UPDATE: March 2019... I'm STILL using it. Still working, not broken it. Still shocked. Still Loving it.

Great foaming but not unbreakable
This makes really good milk foam. I use mine daily. But this was my 3rd purchase - The previous two broke after relatively short time due to simple impacts. Just be careful with it. To knock the froth out of the frothing screen, tap the shaft against your finger rather than on the glass edge. MUCH safer. It cleans well by frothing a bit of dish soap and water in the unit. No need to disassemble it.

It has one job, and it can’t do it !
First it took over a month to arrive , then order was canceled , oh but wait , it just arrived out of nowhere , and now , less than a month later , it no longer works! Changed out batteries , NOPE, still nothing !

Best Milk Frother
This Bon Jour Milk Frother is as good or better than any milk frother on the best of espresso machines. You can jazz up a high chocolate with frothy milk or simply use to make a great cappuccino. You will not be disappointed. It is the best!

Works but requires frequent replacement
I’ve been buying this frother for years and just downgraded it to 3 stars. It used to last for several years before I broke the glass, but this one lasted 11 months (2/1/2025 - 1:1/2026) before it just stopped frothing. I questioned the milk I was using but unfortunately the problem is the screen has become disfigured and won’t produce a froth anymore. It such a small little thing, but I can’t purchase a replacement. Former review: I love this frother - the sustainability of not requiring electricity and the wonderful foam it produces are my top reasons for using this. I use all kinds of dairy and non-dairy products, and find that the "Unsweetened" versions of non-dairy beverages do not froth well. The "Original" versions froth beautifully, making for a fabulous morning latte. I put the milk in the microwave for 90 seconds and that seems to be the perfect amount of heat. Occasionally it gets a bit hot while pumping, so I just grab a towel, but usually it's fine. I have gone through 5 of these, but that's over a 20 year period! I occasionally need to buy new screens as they get ratty and bent out of shape over the years. Very occasionally I drop the glass beaker and have to replace it. I preferred the old pump mechanism, which was all metal, so I have kept it all these years. This version has more plastic and feels cheap. The price has gone up $9 over the years.

I was searching for a manual milk frother for quite a while, and this one is the best I’ve found. It’s a perfect size for a single cup serving. The fit of the plunger is good - which seems to be very important when frothing non-dairy milks as they are more difficult to froth. With the removable base, it’s easy to pop the glass in the microwave to heat up the milk and help stabilize the froth. After trying 3 others, this was hands down the best one for me.
