Very good quality of paper, printing. A lot of big photos. One strange thing: about 250 pages, and no drawings)Good book for people who just starts collecting information about tanks of WWII. If you're intermediate - not sure.

Very Scholarly Work - Super for Panzer Fanatics - NOT for Novices.
This volume (like the others in the series by Thomas Anderson) of the German Panzertruppen is for hard-core history buffs and modelers/wargamers, who want the technical details, development history, and even operational logistics, transport and support units. It's not a set of popular stories about Tiger crews in battle, like Michael Wittman in Normandy, or Otto Carious on the Eastern Front. He relies heavily on primary sources and military archives, and you will see many original photos from multiple archives and private collections that you won't see in 'popular' military history books. This is for readers who have gone through the more generalized books on German AFVs, stories of famous panzer commanders, etc., and still want more details and a deeper understanding of the massive support effort and manufacturing infrastructure behind the actual combat units and their panzers. I would have awarded 5 Stars if there had been a few less-well covered Tigers-in-combat stories written by crew, rather than summarized after-action reports by a Staff Officer. But for the hardcore fanatic, this is the real deal.

Very good reference book
I don't have any other books or magazines on the Tiger Tank so I cannot say what has been repeated or indeed copied from past texts. But having read this book I can say it is very good but not perfect. Like others have said the text is disjointed. From an AFV modeller point of view the book has great reference pictures all in black and white. There is no interior pictures for reference so don't buy this book if that is what you want.I think this book is great as your first Tiger tank book.

A VERY GOOD BOOK ON THE GERMAN TIGER TANK OF WWII
I bought this book as a gift for a friend who wants to gather information about this specific WWII tank. He is interested in History, but is also a beginner on the topic of tanks. So, I researched various books and authors before deciding for this one. While doing so, I came across encyclopedia like books, others looking like some kind of loosely integrated collage gathered from various sources, while other were merely picture books with very little information within. . Mr T. Anderson appeared, according to reviewers, to be quite knowledgeable about the topic of WWII tanks. So, when I received TIGER, I flipped through its pages before gift wrapping it.I found a treasure trove of information about the history of tanks at war, german tanks history and development, political and economic circumstances before and during WWII, technical information, battlefield performance and flaws, comparison with other nation's war machines, etc. All of it presented in a structured and easily accessible format. Not elementary, not encyclopedical. The book features numerous pictures as well, mostly in black and white with little enhancement, which accounts for a distinctive historical cachet. The book itself is sturdy, hardcovered, made out with glazed good quality paper. Print quality is good as well.I haven't touroughly read it, of course. But the information I came across appear reliable, accurate and based on technical and historical data available that I am aware of.
