This is my first watermelon slicer and I don't think I would ever want to be without one, again!Pros: makes slicing watermelon significantly easier. I did an entire seedless melon (about 14" x 16"; not huge, but not too small) in 13 minutes. I never timed myself before, but I know it took a LOT longer and was a much more difficult and messier task.-the corer works well to pop out seeds.Cons:-there is definitely a learning curve. The second half was easier, but if you are looking for perfect slices as in the picture......well, it didn't happen in my kitchen. But it still worked okay and I used the melon baller to get the last of the fruit that I didn't slice so cleanly to the rind.-good luck with the melon baller! The serrated edge of the corer on the opposite end kept digging into my hand. I wrapped it in a dish rag and that helped a little. I changed my grasp which helped with the serrated problem, but it wasn't as comfortable for cutting the melon balls.-The raw edges on the handle of the slicer are also not very user friendly. When wet, they are hard to grip to withdraw a slice; and sharp enough to be uncomfortable if not actually cutting my palm. I saw one with a vinyl coated handle. Maybe that would be an improvement, I don't know.-it is supposed to be adjustable. You manage that by squeezing the slicer to the desired width and holding it there for the entire slice. Hahaha. I admit that fine motor coordination is not my strength. Maybe the skill could come with practice. Fortunately I do not require precision watermelon slices.For all my complaints, this does a nice job of slicing a watermelon.

I suspect I may have an addiction to gadgets but this melon slicer is well worth having and will be well used. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of the slicer, and had I bothered to look at the informative pictures on the box it wouldn't have even taken that long... It sliced easily through the mini watermelon I had in the fridge and the slices lifted out cleanly and easily, it did leave a little flesh on the skin but I suspect that with more practice that wont be a problem. I scraped the skin clean, put it in a bowl, filled it with ice cream and topped it with the sliced melon that I'd cubed, delicious!The melon scoop was equally useful and both were very easy to wash up and don't take up too much room. Received my watermelon slicer and of course had to try it out right away, so I bought a watermelon, a honeydew melon and even a cantaloupe. No more sloppy mess cutting melons for me. This watermelon (and other melon) slicer worked wonders.The melons sliced so easily in uniform pieces and I was able to use the slice as a pair of tongs to place the melon on the dish and to serve it as well.
