Terrific Juice. Super Dry Pulp. Requires time investment to clean thoroughly after each use. Helpful Customer Service
Read about pros and cons of 4 main juicer types in Chris Carr book and decided on a Twin Gear type because it was the second best at preserving nutrients; I was okay with the trade-off of being more time-consuming to clean than other types. The most-nutritious Norwalk costs thousands, while twin gear machines cost hundreds. Of the latter, I chose the Greenstar Elite based on reading customer reviews. I appear to have received a defective machine. Amazon is shipping a replacement. I will update my review after it arrives and I've used it for a while. On opening the box, it appeared to have been opened, unpacked and repacked, but nothing was missing, and the parts all looked clean and unused, so no problem, I thought. I read all and followed all instructions (I'm the type that always does that, and errs on the side of treating just about everything from clothing to machines with more TLC than specified). I also watched the DVD. I used the juicer for one recipe from the Carr book on the 1st day (ie, I didn't make multiple batches). Cut up carrots, kale, chard and spinach, I did add one small beet cut into 4 pcs. THRILLED with the results. Juice was delicious. The pulp was super-dry. The machine worked beautifully, no issues. Clean up was not quick. I already expected that and am willing to do it for the benefits. Don't want any speck of organic matter left behind in the screen rotting over time. A helpful multi-tip, multi-brush tool comes with machine which makes it easier to get every speck. Cool so far. I'm a decades long family caregiver, now down to one family member to care for at home. Nutrition has become a challenge. I've had a hunch for a while that the minimal eating has more to do with how tiring it is for her to chew, than lack of appetite. I try very hard to serve her things she likes, and she indicates that what I'd been serving her was delicious, but even with me feeding her to conserve energy, she waves most solid foods away after a few bites. I was aware that she'd keep emptying her glass if I kept refilling it, so for some time, I've been relying on 3-4 nutritional supplement drinks per day to ensure she's getting a minimum of calories and nutrients. But I'm not thrilled, reading the ingredients. She GUZZLED the 1st glass of juice, draining it to the bottom with sucking noises. More fresh vegetables consumed in 5 minutes than I'd normally get down her in a week. VICTORY! YAY! Repeat day 2. I'm elated! I'm excited to anticipate perhaps all kinds of health benefits showing up for her in months to come if this continues! Day 3: I decide I'm going to jazz it up a little and prep some watercress, parsley, and a crisp apple to add to the 3 ingredients I'd used for the first 2 uses. It took quite a bit of time to scrub and cut up, to wash and strip herbs and greens to remove all stems. Looking forward to having her juice minutes away, MACHINE DEAD. Tried other appliances in same outlet, work fine. Tried disassembling and reassembling several times. Tried Reverse button. DEAD. The machine gave no indications that it was failing or in distress the first 2 uses. Worked perfectly. I expect a machine that costs hundred of dollars to be capable of being used once a day FOR YEARS, not twice. As I said, I will update review after receiving replacement and using it a while. The first machine is going back. PS Had to wait til noon Eastern time to contact Tribest Customer Service Pacific time. VERY HELPFUL. GOT MY MACHINE WORKING quickly with over the phone instructions. Back to being thrilled! I cancelled the return and replacement process. Fingers crossed that there will be no more issues. Provided machine is reliable and long-lived, I expect to use this more than our Vitamix. Love it!

Excellent juice! Dry pulp
One of the reasons I wanted a juicer was all the apples I come across as a landscaper. Juicing was a way to use more apples in less time. Before I ended up purchasing this juicer, I thought I was going to get an Omega juicer because I knew someone that had one and heard they were good. I read plenty of reviews off amazon and other sites relating to different juicers. I watched youtube videos as well. This was more than I thought I was going to spend, but I'm glad I did. I bought it in September of 2016 and it's still going strong today. On the top of the list of produce to juice was apples. I will say it makes the best apple cider I’ve ever had. I just vote the apples, slice them up, and juice them pretty quickly. There is some foam, but you can drink it, or screen it out. I’ve only bought apple juice a couple times since I bought this. Store bought isn’t good anymore. It will generally get 6 to 8 ounces of juice per apple depending how large. I used it 2 or 3 times a week for a while and then was on and off with using it. Now I'm back. I have used it for many different kinds of veggies, greens, and fruits and it works well with all. For example, for the past few weeks, 2 to 3 times a week, I'll juice 5 to 10 pounds of carrots at a time so I can have 2 glasses of juice a day until next time to juice. After washing the carrots, cutting to fit, juicing, and final cleanup, it usually takes anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour to juice 8 to 10 pounds. It yields between 60 to 70 ounces of nice, smooth, clean and fresh tasting juice with minimal grit. It's totally worth the time. I used to buy carrot juice, but not anymore. Store bought is pasturized and old, so it's not as good or as healthy. It's also more cost effective to juice your own compared to a juice bar. I also purchased the soft fruit knob for oranges or whatever other soft fruit. The other day I juiced just 2 organic oranges with the more pulp screen and my wife said it's the Best Orange Juice she's ever had. The manufacturer claims that the gears are magnetized to enhance the quality of the juice and I believe they are. Juice will last 3 to 4 days in the fridge no problem. I will say though when I juiced organic Meyer's lemons to make lemonade, it was awesome, but the flavor changed within 2 days and wasn't as good anymore. Greens and wheat grass were no problem mixed with other veggies either. Even garlic is good to add into the mix. I did try it to make but butter, but it was really gritty and dry. Maybe I didn’t use the right nuts or recipe? Now, to address the cleaning; If you clean it right away, it's not too difficult and comes with good utensils for that, except you may also want a round scrub brush. About the stains that were mentioned, running a lemon through after your done helps and water helps to loosen debris, but there may be remaining color stain. In my opinion of that is "oh well". Just clean it as best you can and keep making awesome juice. It's only stain. About that issue 'that one reviewer' mentioned with the stainless gears not being stainless and flaking... those gears in the picture aren't flaking, they're covered in buildup, which may happen, but it's more like stain and it doesn't get in the way of performance. They are stainless, because if they weren't rust might develop before you could shake a stick at it. The bottom line, if I had it to do over again, I would still buy it.

An excellent product in every way
An excellent product in every way. A few points right away. Cleaning this unit is simple and takes about 12 minutes from start to finish including drying. This is after juicing many carrots, celery, ginger and kale. Second point is that since preparing the veggies for juicing does not require slicing them into smaller half inch pieces for carrot, celery etc the total time of use may be 5 minutes longer on the cleanup, but 5-8 minutes less on the preparation. It takes 10 minutes to clean up after breakfast or lunch. I am not sure why some reviews state the cleanup time is unreasonable...maybe the expectation is juice and walk away For cleaning, I removed the screen and set it in hot soapy water to soak while I clean the other parts. If I want to walk away from the sink, the screen is still soaking and when I return it is an easy process. I use the dull side of a butter knife to clean the few parts of the screen that need more work. This method is suggested in the user manual. Kale goes in completely un-trimmed...just feed it into the juicer with the stem end first and use the tamper with a little push. Carrots and celery are processed just as easily. The amount of juice that is produced was a surprise...just about all available juice is extracted. Mixing up the veggies, fruit and citrus will ensure good results. Another review suggested juicing a lemon or lime as the last item and I tried that with good results. Also, ginger. The citrus and ginger help to clean the screen and also add great flavor and nutrients. I use only organic produce. Before I had the GSE5000 I would walk through the grocer and not pick up many greens I wanted simply because it was not always effiecient to get kale, spinach, collards, chard, cabbage and many others because of the potential for not using them timely. With the GSE5000, if it is green or otherwise interesting, it is a simple choice to buy the greens and easily juice them while still fresh. The quality of the juice is very good. I am new to juicing and always add either a lime, lemon or ginger to my green juices. Beets and red cabbage are very good for you. Citrus and apples are used only to add flavor. I think that 90% of the juice I make is green and 10% or less will be one piece of fruit and then lime or ginger. The lime and ginger goes a long way. A 2 inch piece of ginger easily adds good flavor to 2-3 quarts of green and red (beet) juice. As FoodBabe states, mix up your greens using all that is available. Do not simply juice kale and spinach over and over and over. Variety is important. I have not yet used the GSE5000 for nuts or grains, though I plan to do so. I have no doubt it will do a great job. And, the 12 year warranty is good. The unit is quiet and has plenty of power, very easy to use. Not too heavy, but not super light either. The carrying grip is well balanced and makes picking and carrying it easy. As others have said, and I agree, if you are thinking about a juicer, even if this is your first, get the GSE5000. You will be happy with your decision.

Superb quality juicer
So, I recently dove into juicing as I had a terrible eczema flare-up that has left me covered head to toe in a painful, anxiety-filling rash. I originally purchased the Omega NC800HDS, which was great, however the auger cracked within a few uses. As there aren't really any other comparable juicers in the price range, I decided to return that unit and splurge a bit more on this one instead. This juicer is amazing. It has an amazingly high yield, especially for leafy greens. The juices I make normally consist of dandelion, broccoli, chard, celery, carrots, kale, spinach, ginger, turmeric, lemons, limes, apples, pears, beet root, parsley, cucumber, and others I cannot quite remember right now. It handles everything beautifully. If I had one complaint, it would be the amount of foam that forms whilst juicing. However, I believe this is dependent on making proper adjustments to the pressure knob while juicing. There's a bit of a learning curve, but you'll learn as you go along. Definitely not a deal breaker, especially because the strainer does its job well. Regarding the time it takes to juice...Depending on how much juice you are making, this can be a very time consuming process. From start to finish, I normally take an hour and a half to make enough juice for 3-4 days. In my eyes, that's not so bad. Bear in mind that I have an abnormally small kitchen, and I am also factoring in washing and prepping all of the vegetables and fruit. Cleaning isn't that bad at all. Everything comes apart easily, and the parts all wash quickly. The screen obviously takes a bit more time, but I have it clean in about 30 seconds. Other reviewers have discussed their techniques for quickly cleaning it. All in all, this is a very high quality, well built and well designed juicer. The machine is beautiful. The gears are truly a work of great engineering. I genuinely love this thing. If you're thinking about making the purchase, I can tell you it will be a fantastic investment.

regret the purchase
by choice was GSE 5000 or Omega Vert 330 HD. i went with GSE 5000 because it produces higher quality juice and more of it ( for the same amount of produce ) than does the VERT. the good: it is built extremely well and makes excellent juice very efficiently - that part i am very happy with. the bad: it is too difficult to use. i have no problem with it but my parents do. i knew this would be the case and in retrospect i should have gotten the VERT. i just had a fight with my parents over them trying to break the juicer again after i had explained to them a hundred times not to do it that way. i realize this is not the juicer's fault - its the fault of my parents - but the fact of the matter is i would rather have Omega Vert at this point even if it doesn't juice as well. so four stars overall. five stars for build quality and accessories, five stars for performance, two stars for ease of use. so my advice is this: if you know your left hand from your right - by all means, GSE 5000 is a great machine - as long as you operate it yourself. basically anybody not intelligent enough to come to the conclusion on their own that they need to be drinking fresh juice from vegetables and greens is also not going to be intelligent enough to use this machine. unfortunately all the machines that match the juice quality and efficiency of this machine are just as difficult or more difficult to use. if you want an easier to use machine you will have to sacrifice juice yield and quality, that said you may want to do that. get the GSE 5000 only if you understand the peculiarities of this machine and exactly what makes it special - otherwise if you don't know much about juicers get Omega Vert 300 HD as it is the safe bet.

Honest review
The machine is awesome. If you buy it, make sure you read through the manual. The learning curve of this machine is slightly higher than with other juicers. Pros: 1) The yield of juice of this type of machine is way higher. 2) All the produce is reduced to a very compact and dry pulp. Even coconut pulp is extracted down to the best tasting cream i've ever had. 3) Sorbets and nut butters are super easy to make. I'd say even easier than with the Vitamix. 4) Includes everything needed to juice right out of the box. Measuring cups, tampers, brushes, etc. 5) Saves money in the long run. Cons: 1) The time required to juice a batch is way higher than using a centrifugal juicer. 2) Cleaning is a pain, although i'd admit is not significantly different than other machines. Usually takes about 15 minutes to clean. 3) If you will be mainly juicing soft fruits, you may have to buy a separated adapter (That's what the manual says, but I think the included adapter works fine.) 4) If you want to make pasta, you will have to buy a separated adapter. 5) At $500, the initial investment will be significant. Overall: This machine is worth every penny. It's a workhorse that handles a lot of jobs easily. It may require some initial reading and cleaning effort, but is totally worth it.

Works pretty well but a nightmare to clean
Juicing is not for the faint of heart. We knew that going in. It's a lot of work for something that you can drink in a fraction of the time that it takes to make. So it's not like we were new to juicing and learned a hard lesson but the cleaning on this machine is not just difficult, it's virtually impossible. The individual parts are pretty similar to other juicers but the cleaning of the area where are of the parts attach to the machine simply can't be done. The best tool we found was a small make-up brush. I guess maybe a pressure washer might work. Once you're used it once, it will NEVER be fully clean again. There are just too many nooks and crannies that you can't reach. There was actually a video review by Greenstar on YouTube where they kept the front face away from the camera and at the end the guy says "then you might have some residue on the face but you just wipe that clean with a paper towel". THAT is a major understatement. As a juicer, it's good but I wouldn't say that it's materially better than the Omega that it replaced which was $200 cheaper. I expected this to be an upgrade to top of the line but unless I'm missing something, it's just another good juicer. There are the same issues with pulp gumming up the works, you still need to re-filter it after juicing. It doesn't like soft fruits (oranges, blueberries, any apples other than Granny Smith). I guess if you're really into juicing you might notice the difference between this and the Omega but I was expecting that I would pay more and those issues would go away. It also has a large footprint because of the horizontal, rather than vertical set-up. Overall, it takes about an hour to juice 1L of juice; including chopping and clean-up. Wouldn't bother me as much if it the end I had filtered juice and the unit was truly clean. Maybe I was expecting too much.

Great Juicer!!!
I truly love this juicer, because it produces great juice. I have had many juicers over the years. Unlike the other juicers that spins the fruit over blades, the juice from the twin gear masticating juicer, can be stored in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. This is a great advantage when planning your meals. However this juicer is very expensive. The only way I was able to afford it was that is used my points from my American Express card to knock $300.00 off from the price. Juicing is very labor intensive, so when I juice, I usually make a gallon at a time to drink over the course of a few days. The produce must be washed and cut down to the size where it will fit down the feeder chute. Then there is the clean up afterwards which is time consuming and uses a lot of water. There are quite a few parts, nooks and crannies that have to be cleaned. The juicer comes with a few brushes for cleaning, but I would suggest you also go out and purchase your own brushes that may suit your needs better. The juicer also comes with a nice glass measuring cup or pitcher in which to collect your juice, however I would also suggest you use your own bowl to collect this juice which will allow you to pour the juice into a bottle to avoid unintentional spills and waste. The screen that is provided to reduce foam is useless because the mesh is too small. The remedy is that you buy your own screen with a larger mesh, and place it in your own bowl. This proves to be a much better system of collecting the juice and reducing the foam. Of course you will have to develop a system which works best for you through trial and error. Again I love this juicer. Frequently I will buy produce on sale, just to see what the juice will taste like. This juicer makes great pomegranate juice! Cranberry juice is extremely sour so you should mix it with something else like apples. Soft fruits are a bit of a challenge, since the produce backs up on you. Things like soft red apples and ripe pineapples are a bit difficult. You also want to watch it when you use ginger root. Because the machine extracts the liquid content so well, the ginger root juice is very strong and highly concentrated. A little bit goes a very long way. Leafy green vegetables? C’mon do you really drink that stuff? Don’t let the guy on Youtube fool you, the stuff tastes awful. However the machine makes very concentrated juice from any vegetable you put in it, so I suggest you add some kind of fruit to any vegetable juice you are making. There is only one juicer out there on the market which is better than this one, and it costs about $1200.00. If you are thinking about getting this juicer and can’t decide, I would urge you to spend the money, and you will become a juice connoisseur.

Eccellente!
Prodotto TOP. Comunque SUPER!!!

Efficient, High quality Juicer
I researched this juicer extensively before I bought it. I started out originally with a Breville High Speed centrifugal juicer. So much waste and inefficient. I moved up to the Green Star Elite as this is probably the best on the market for extracting the most juice out of your produce. The pulp is very dry and it juices leafy greens very well. Soft fruit is more of a problem if juicing by itself. Soft fruit followed by a hard veg, like a carrot or celery, then soft fruit not a problem. I use mine mostly for green juice. The only cons I can think are: 1. It's expensive, but, you get what you pay for; and 2. The thing is a pain to clean. It isn't hard to clean per se, it's just time consuming. The juicer does such a great job that I can live with that. In conclusion, you won't be sorry with this choice of a juicer, among the best on the Market!
