The Ten Commandments - Music from the Original 1956 Soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein

Superb!
Great to have the fine score from this picture available in some form to download! I have an old scratchy copy of the Dot Records 2-LP set (mono) of the soundtrack which, while great, is...well... old and scratchy! This is a vast improvement! I do not believe that these tracks are taken from the original soundtrack, though. The little research I've done suggests that this is in fact taken from the stereo re-recording that Bernstein did for Dot Records in 1959, since the track titles correspond to those on the LP, and the times are similar to those found onĀ Music From The Soundtrack Of Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments , which is taken from the 1959 set. Hard to tell what this was mastered from, since info on the net is lacking at best. If anyone can shed a little more light, that would be great. Oh well. Sound is excellent! If you've been searching in agony for this Bernstein score at a descent price, look no further. Definately go for this download!

The Complete Version of the 1956 The Ten Commandments
Many people have been inquiring about the 2 hour and 21 minute original score on The Ten Commandments from 1956, but finally, I believe that I have acquired the attention of Paramount Studios on this soundtrack. Obviously, there is a complete version of this music but Paramount indicated that not much interest was expressed by the public. I contacted them this past Monday and I think that the studio might be interested in producing this soundtrack. My point made was TTC is the most in demand music today but there is only an 18 track version and believe it or not, I found the complete version on UTube two days ago. Of course, the music was not as clear and pristine like the original but nevertheless, it IS the original music without a doubt. I am convinced that if enough people would contact Paramount, the studio finally may decide to release the entire score! The individual I conversed with said my request would be sent to the appropriate office at the studio. The individual mentioned that it should be released since many other epic movies; such as Ben-Hur and King of Kings were given that opportunity. Hopefully, everyone who reads this review will respond to Paramount and with enough inquiries, the studio might just make this happen. This recording is well done but it is not complete; however, the full version would satisfy many people. Let's hope they do it!!!!!

I "Command" You to Buy This CD!
Very pleasantly surprised with this CD......love the music score to be sure as well as the film. But it creates a mood all by itself. I really wanted the truly expensive complete version, but can't afford that. For all who enjoy this film, this CD will fit the bill for you.

Terrific Restoration.
I was very happy to see that there was a reproduction of the original score. The album is very hard to come by and sells for hundreds of dollars. This cd appears to be an exact duplicate of the original score. The score was one of the highlights of the movie

They can remove the Ten Commandments from a courthouse, but not from history.
I love this Score! I loved it when I was a kid, I love it now. I hope others can appreciate Mr. Bernstein's work, and that includes Ghostbusters... In my opinion, this score tells the tale of Moses just as well as Charleton Heston and the rest of the cast did. Without the great score the movie would not be the same. Powerful, epic, and classic. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Scores.
