It Kills Bugs!
If you want something that really works, this one does. IDK so much about the 1-mile claim, but i can tell you that i am clearing a low-lying lot for a new house, and i noticed a lower number of bugs swarming me when this was plugged in. NOTE: It does attract moths at night, which i know is a no-go for some people so i wanted you to know.I did return the timer because 1) i run it pretty much night and day unless i'm sleeping and 2) I know the picture shows a short cord, but i guess i just didn't realize that it's like 2 inches.

To good at what they do!
Ok, These kill and kill and kill everything that goes around them. They work so good they get full every night. I have one in the front of the house and one in back. I live in Florida out in the sticks, so bugs are very bad here. I have 6 acres and to many mosquitos. The screen that shocks the bugs get so many bugs on them every night it all turns black to the point it blocks the light out. Luckily the ants have found this consistent supply of food and they clean a lot of the bugs off during the day when the mosquito traps are turned off. Every evening I take my small rolling compressor out to them and use the air gun to quickly clean the shock screen off what is left after the ants have eaten most of the yum yums. Even though these are killing machines they have not really cut back the mosquito population. Our yard is unusable at 8 pm when the mosquitos come out in full force. There are just to many mosquitos here in the swamps even at the rate these kill them it hasn't helped much. Please don't get me wrong these are great at what they do its just in our case there are just to many mosquitos to kill and we still get overwhelmed by mosquitos between 7:30 pm and 10pm. At 10 they seem to calm down a bit.

Works ok, but not with Gypsy moths
I purchased this after reading a report that said the UV wavelength attracts gypsy moths, of which we had a bunch. After firing this up, we quickly realized they paid no attention to it and we didn't kill any with it. Part of the fact is that gypsy moths are out during the day and so the UV light is hard to see. It does zap night time moths (at least small ones, big ones can't fit through the side panels), and does ok on mosquitoes but not great. Also my kids complained that it was noise as it was near their window. All in all I would not recommend it and look for a quieter unit.

Cookin em down…
This bug zapper is the best I have ever used hands down. The screen isn’t so tight it easily gets plugged up. I have watched mosquitos by thousands flog this zapper with a hormone wafer in it and watched them cook. All they need to do is get close and not actually make physical contact and get zapped. I believe this greatly helps keep the screen from clogging so easily. The timer is flawless. Prolly one of the best timers I have ever personally used and paired with this zapper makes for some great entertainment as well. When this zapper nails bugs it has a good clearly audible crack of authority. Kills with a fury. I have used this zapper all spring and summer. It works without fail and with the timer, without delay.I will buy several more of these. This is a fantastic item and so worth the money.

This is a bug exterminator
Works really well for all types of bugs. I was schematically but quite impressed. I have two units 0.5 acre (bought last year) and 1 acre (bought this yr). This year’s device seems a bit lower quality from a construction point of view. The grid came in installed crooked and almost touching the bulb but it still works.

Really Kills mosquitoes and other flying bugs.
It has been raining quite a bit where I live, and the mosquitoes are having a field day. I bought this, and within a week, I have noticed a significant decrease in bites. Every time I hear the zzzttt sound of a mosquito being killed, I feel safer to be outside.

Bigger than expected
I bought this to put in my basement due to an unknown source of flies, small and large. Well, it kills the large ones. Sometimes it thoroughly kills them (they get stuck and get thoroughly zapped). Unfortunately, it doesn't get the little gnats/fruit flies as they can fit between the contacts. It's my fault for not better checking the size info. I love that it came with an extra bulb, that added a lot of value. The cord on it is a little short. If you don't have an outlet within a couple feet of where you are hanging it, you will need an extension cord.

Simple and Effective
I dislike killing anything but it is necessary to make our back deck and back yard useable. This does the job simply and effectively. It does not help much, if at all, with mosquitos, even when using the MA-1000 Octenol attractant. Ultimately we had to hire a mosquito spraying service for that which had I resisted for years for general environmental health reasons. The combination of this bug zapper and the mosquito spraying service gave us back the use of our back deck and back yard .
