This seems like a pretty decent laptop for the money.I've used cheaper ones (Toshiba) and been pretty frustrated. They're a bit thinner, but not as sturdy and not as easy to upgrade. The Lenovo is easy to work on; three screws hold the cover over the disk drive and memory.The 8GB version comes with two 4GB DIMMs, so if you want to upgrade to 16GB just get the 4GB one and two 8GB DIMMs.I had problems with Windows 7 updates. It would just sit at "checking for updates" for hours, a known issue with Windows 7. I fixed this by using a utility to do offline updates called WSUS. It's free, and completely solved the problem. It's not the easiest program to use, but online tutorials are available. Once I got WSUS to finish, regular Windows automatic updates started working.I haven't installed the SSD yet, but it looks easy enough (I'm waiting for a disk drive enclosure so I can clone the existing drive with Macrium Reflect).

This is the first Lenovo laptop I've worked with, having exclusively serviced and sold HP exclusively. I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. First the shipping was quick and it was packaged very well. The laptop itself is very sturdy, solid and good looking. It's got cool light accents in the logos on both sides of the laptop.Setup was a snap, as there was no bloatware to remove from it. A couple hours of Windows updates and it was ready to go.The screen resolution impressed me most, everything looks crisp and clear on the screen. I was also impressed with the speed of the machine. Pages loaded quickly when browsing the internet, programs spin right up.Overall I'm very satisfied and will definitely recommend these machines in the future.

The Lenovo E560 Thinkpad with Windows 7 and a DVD burner is not good.There was persistent preinstalled McAfee anti-malware that required time to eradicate.Click & drag is hit or miss. So bad I had to disable the trackpad. You'd lose the click+drag ability needing to re-click and drag.The shortcut keys for adjusting volume and brightness have disappeared or they changed them on the Thinkpad. Less LEDs,, less control on functions.Bluetooth connectivity is the pits. Lenovo's site not great for solving this.This is a low end Lenovo but after experiencing this, and many years of PCs, I may try a Mac next time. Never thought I'd say that, but this Lenovo has me very frustrated.2/20/23 update: Bluetooth is still unusable. And now Windows 7 is insecure. I still regret buying this.

High quality product at a very good price but we cannot adjust the speed of the scroll and it has been very frustrating. Still high quality product built by Lenovo was an excellent feeling keyboard feeling keyboard that is comfortable to use and a clear screen without a lot of excess weight. Still a laptop I would recommend with a capable Mouse attached.

Works better than the PC it replaced.

Great laptop. Solid design, construction. Got Win 7 pro loaded on it to correspond to win pro at work and on wife's similar Lenovo. Fired up straight out of the box, loaded some updates to windows, some additional software, and have been going strong ever since. Like layout and feel of keyboard, screen is good screen and does a fine job, although I attach to a Samsung HD monitor 28" and the pix are superb. Added a usb port extender as always never enough usb ports. Also added 3T byte drive, and Lenovo spot on flawless with all. Wife's Lenovo almost 3 yr. never a problem, expect this one to do same. Icore 5 processor plenty of horsepower for everything I need.

Seriously? No hard drive activity indicator? It's not a feature I would even think about digging for in the specs because, well, it's pretty much expected that a computer of ANY type, brand, or price range would have a HDD LED. I expected more of Lenovo, even at this price point. After all, the laptop has a red LED dotting the "i" in "Thinkpad" on the keyboard bezel and on the lid. How much more difficult would it have been to make the red LED dotting the "i" on the keypad bezel a flickering HDD LED? It may not seem like a big deal to novices who don't have any idea what is going on inside their computer, but for those of us who work with computers daily, the status of the LED (its rate of flicker, for example) tells us a great deal about what is going on inside our computer and how well it is functioning. Your computer "freezes" and you look at the HDD LED and see that it is lit solid, working as hard as it can. So you wait it out and when you see it beginning to flicker you know that things are about to sort themselves out. I don't want to have to launch Task Manager to see what's going on. Overall, the laptop is still a good buy for the money, but come on, Lenovo, it's a basic feature that one just expects to be there. You (IBM/Lenovo) can do better than that...

Received in a couple of days as promised. Battery was charged and ready to use. This model is similar to what I used at work. I had a problem setting up my windows outlook but Paul called me and helped me get it set up in a couple of minutes - I was using the wrong password. Screen is easy to read. Screen resolution is nice. Reviewed Surface Pro 4 and the Think Pad Edge and chose this PC. Paid a lot less and it works great for my needs. I love it!!!
