Wouldn't use an Ozonics without it.
I honestly wouldn't use the Ozonics without the extension arm. It helps with winds that seem to switch every so often, the arm that comes with it is entirely too short.

Not the same material or build quality as the standard Ozonics arm. Almost seems third party.

I bought the extension, but don't believe it is necessary. I have not had to attach it to the standard extension that comes with the Ozonic device.
