The Stranger in the Lifeboat: A Novel

Good story, light characters, moves well, less memorable life lesson
I finished this book a week ago. I hesitated to write a review because I wasn't sure what to say.I gave it five stars when I finished the book on my Kindle. I have now backed it down to four. The story is wispy with an interesting plot twist. Like Albom's other books, it has a life lesson, and as I write this, I am having trouble remembering it.I really enjoyed the story and read the book in a couple of days. This is unusual for me to finish it so quickly. That's why I called it wispy. The story has continual tension with good, but thin characters, including the stranger in the lifeboat. If you want a quick and entertaining read with a life lesson at the end, give it a go. When you finish, please remind me what the lesson was. Thanks.

Grace and redemption.
A huge yacht sinks and survivors are in a lifeboat. A stranger pulled from the sea says he is the Lord. One passenger who has suffered great loss in his life keeps a journal as each of the survivors is gone. Even the Lord has been taken by the sea, leaving only the journal keeper and a young girl. When a detective finds the journal in the washed-up lifeboat, he tries to figure out the meaning of the journal. Grief changes us and both the detective and the journalist have lost someone they loved, and then themselves. How can they find redemption?

5 stars
It’s like a combination of the play Tracks and the TV show God Friended Me. Very well written, a quick read. I would recommend for someone dealing with grief. I’m glad I read it.

A very captiving book.
This is a book of wander. Author gives characters that are believed. It is a story of faith in desperate times and the erence if God when we least expect it.

Very intriguing book
You will want to finish reading this book. It’s hard to put down and it’s short. I enjoyed it a lot. The only negative comment that I will make is that the ending was somewhat abrupt. The reader is left with a lot of questions.

another page turner from Mitch Albom
I read this book in 48 hours. It’s always intriguing how people manage a the situation they find themselves. This is a novel of redemption. My favorite quote, “sometimes we have to lose who we were to become who we are”. Worth the read even if you don’t believe.

Brilliant and inspirational. I loved it.
I love mitch albom and have read all his books. This is definitely on par with the five people you meet in heaven which is my favourite. For mitch albom fans a real must. It is brilliant, beautifully written and just the kind of inspirational story we all need at the moment.

Pretty good…
An easy and enjoyable read. I read this book because I previously read ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven’. Of the two books, I preferred ‘The Five People…’, but that is more because that book is particularly good rather than ‘The Stranger in the Lifeboat’ being sub-par in any way. I would (and probably will) read other books by this author. Overall, I would be happy to recommend.

Survive or die
A short novel relating the tale of a luxury yacht sunk off Cape Verde owned by a boorish billionaire who brought together the great and not so good on a idle whim to save the world, in reality no more than a sailing jolly that naturally ended in disaster for all bar a small group of survivors, whose lives plummeted into thirst, hunger and death depending on their belief of a redeeming Lord.

thought provoking
This is the third Mitch Albom book I have read. Like the other two, it’s easy to read, thoroughly absorbing and very thought provoking.
