Review: What year is it? - This book is several versions behind current now, but it is easy to read to get a quick overview of the way the firewall works. I think the author’s style is amusing. He comes across as enthusiastic in the way you would expect an eight grade student would. Lots of paragraphs end in exclamations, plenty of side-trails are summarized with “i could write a whole book about that”, but all in all he does meet the line between the test topics and the real world things you’ll want to know. It might not be your only book to pass the exam, but if it’s your first you’ll be off to a good start. Also note, this is just book 1 of 2. Review: This book is just okay - I've used Todd Lammle books before in the past and they have always been good. This series (vol1 & 2) I find is just okay. This book alone won't prepare you for the exam. It is also very hard to find information since the book has no index in the back and no text on the pages that tell you what chapter you're in so if you're going back to review something, you have to use the table in the front to find the chapter. Also the entire chapter on Pxgrid is not in the book. They send you to the website and its not included in the free content. The the PassFast workbook is okay but these questions are the same as I've found online elsewhere. The only difference is that PassFast atleast explains the answers. For anyone taking this exam, I highly suggest using the admin and config guides for FTD and FMC on Cisco's website. Yes, the actual full guides. I recently passed the 300-710 and alot of the questions come from there along with Cisco Digital learning, if you have that available to you.
