This is a cost effective way to use yarn leftovers, and its wonderful to create your own patterns for latch hook designs

My girlfriend and I enjoy making some rugs together while watching TV or talking. We bought these and realized the grid was cut crooked, meaning the black lines indicating every 10 squares are linear and usable, but the cuts were at an angle. So with some scissors and careful cutting we corrected these. The latch hook works just fine and fits the squares well. The only complaint is the Yarn Cutter Tool. It is cheap wood and splinters after sliding scissors through the slot to cut yarn, causing the wood to grab and fray the yarn after a few uses. This doesnt ruin the product and if you are okay with your rugs being low-quality hobby results, it will be fine. We enjoy this and are excited to see our end products. There is also a strong smell that lasts for a few weeks.

Could not find a rug large enough with the kits so tried this out. The gadget for cutting the yarn is incredibly easy so that you can use any yarn or color and make your own design. I did a simple random square design and it was easy… still working on it. Have enough for another project.

The mat was cut at a severe angle so my project had to be put on a completely different base mat.
