This works but smells bad
It was difficult to decide how to rate this because 1) it basically did what it said but, 2) it smells pretty bad to me. It is beyond citronella - more like citronella with melted plastic. Maybe if you're not scent sensitive or you really like citronella it would be OK for you. I may have tried a few other things if I had know what the smell would be like, like peppermint oil which worked when my dog was a puppy. After I sprayed it on the new couch legs and edges my cat started trying to bury it by scratching the rug so we were in agreement about the smell. However I wasn't pleased about the rug being treated like a kitty litter box. I am pleased he doesn't like it and is not clawing my new furniture, but I wish it smelled better to humans. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if that was possible.

A bit too much repitition required, but it works. At least... it does for my cat.
I didn't need to stop my cat from scratching. I needed to stop her from wedging herself into shoes at the front door. It worked great for this. The spray has a strong citronella scent to it. I sprayed it on the rug where we set our shoes. The only disappointment was the 3-4 times a day thing. The directions say you have to refresh it 3-4 times a day. I haven't had to, but I think if I were to go a different route, I'd have bought some citronella essential oil and diluted it with water in a spray bottle then used it as a spray instead. It would probably have the same effect, but last longer and be a bit cheaper in the long run.

Without Question - This Works!
I'm pretty surprised to tell the truth - I honestly didn't think there was anything - aside of banishing them from the living room - that would keep my kitties from scratching up our upholstery. Having gotten rid of our old and destroyed sofa and buying a new one, I was dreading the thought of it getting shredded like the old one. (I think declawing is cruel and should never be an option) I've used sticky tape, aluminum foil, other spray deterrents, have lots of scratching lounges and nothing seemed to work. Lion Tamer was a last shot for me and my sanity and my new sofa.I sprayed it on as directed and sprayed catnip scent on their scratchy pad lounge thingies as I always do... My cats want absolutely nothing to do with the sofa or the chairs I sprayed it on. They sniff and go straight for their scratchy pads. I'm not only amazed, I'm shocked. Also, the scent reminds me of Murphy's Oil Soap, it's not unpleasant at all. This works for all four of my cats... Just make sure to spray as often as the directions call for. I ordered two more bottles - I can enjoy my furniture and my kitties.

Useless
This stuff is completely useless for the intended purpose, you might as well squirt water on your furniture. Neither of my cats care about it at all. I've tried spraying it on several times per day and I get no effect at all. I even tried spraying it on my hand and sticking my hand in the cat's face. That at least had a minor effect as the cat clearly didn't like the smell, but after a few minutes the smell is completely gone and the cat just rubbed up against my hand.Basically all this stuff is good for is as an air freshener, and it isn't very good at that. Don't waste your money on this stuff, for the same price of a bottle of this you can buy a decent scratching post which is far more effective at getting the cats to scratch somewhere else than this spray. At least it doesn't strain the furniture though, and it does smell ok, for a couple of minutes anyway. Check the positive reviews, you'll see that a high percentage of them are from people who got free product.

Still scratches directly after spraying
I got this spray because one of my cats would scratch my box spring throughout the night. It's only a year old mattress, so I don't want my cat scratching it up. I can hear her scratching through the mattress during all hours of the night, so I can't sleep. But only during the night. She doesn't scratch during the day. I got this spray so she can stop wrecking my mattress. I sprayed multiple times a day like the bottle said, and come 3am she's scratching again. Sometimes I would even spray again in the middle of the night and she would still scratch. I don't find this spray effective at all, and especially for the price (with shipping), it was not worth it.

Didn't work for me, but customer service honored their guarantee!
Unfortunately, this product didn't work for my cat. I'm still giving it 5 stars, because the company followed up with my purchase, and when I replied that it didn't seem to have any affect on my cat, they responded quickly, explaining that not all animals are sensitive to the product, and that they would issue a full refund. Their customer service was great, the product didn't stain the light fabric of the chair I was using it on, but unfortunately it just wasn't the right product for my little scratchy furball. Go ahead and give it a try (I hope you get better results!), knowing that if it doesn't work, this company is great with follow-through.

Worked for about a week
It's pretty much citronella. My cat stayed away for about a week from the sofa but now he could care less about the smell even though I spray it weekly

Didn't work as well as we would have liked!
We just bought a new love seat and got this to keep the cats off of it. It seemed to work well, at first. It seems the cats got used to it and then ignored it...lol! As I understand it, cats are like people...not all have the same senses!
