Is this product effective in getting rid of drain flies?

Somewhat, you need to keep all things as clean as possible then this product is very good to maintain. But the sludge buildup on pipe walls, etc need to be cleaned as thoroughly as possible and all things need to be kept as clean as possible from the containments that will host the flies.

Can you use this product in a kitchen sink drain with a garbage disposal?

I did and it seemed to work. It's a little tricky getting it past the drain flaps but I just used a funnel.

It doesn't completely eliminate all but it did reduce the population of the drain flies a lot .

Is this product compatible with septic systems

What worked better for me than using this was purchasing fine and regular (both worked) drain baskets and I haven't had the bugs back this year. This didn't work even when I followed directions.
