Q: Are these strictly summer shoes or could they be worn with socks in the winter?

I have worn them with socks, no problem. I sometimes wear fairly thin insoles, but can't with these shoes. My foot slips out the back.

Q: Will these shoes keep my feet from getting too hot when walking or hiking?

Recently during an Arizona vacation where the temperature reached 105 degrees, I wore them all day with light weight socks and my feet were not hot at all.

Q: Are the insoles removable?

Yes, you can remove the insoles for your own orthotics. I use PowerStep Pinnacles and they fit very well.
