Beautiful, at first....
First this flatware is gorgeous. And it is expensive. But I justified the price by Merpa's reputation for having "colored" flatware that was of such a high quality you can safely clean them in the dishwasher. I've had the flatware (and serveware) for around 5 months and it is heavily discolored. I've been in contact with the manufacturer and they've advised me to use stainless steel polish. Hopefully that works because they look awful now, but I did not expect to have to polish this flatware. Very disappointing.

i love the look and weight but has problems with quality
Pros:-good weight and feel-gunmetal color is very attractive and modern-i like the shape (i've bought multiple sets already)Cons:-expensive af-QC problems (notches in the coating on the sides of the fork likely due to the machinery they use, notches and scratches in the coating likely due to lack of packaging) (i had to return a few sets due to this being a really bad issue, i can forgive really small imperfections)-packaged in thin plastic and a plain white cardboard box instead of nicer packaging (i was hoping the box would be somewhat nice)

Lovely placesetting. Returning because it's only ONE placesetting
I purchased this thinking the price point had to be for four place settings. I was wrong. I'd have happily paid the price for four complete sets. But for one? No way. Don't get me wrong, this flatware is spectacular. But considering my wife insists on having 8 sets of flatware (for family gatherings and such), there's NO WAY I'm dropping nearly $1,600 for spoons, forks, and knives.Again, spectacular flatware. Ridiculous price.

Great investment for quality flatware.
Gorgeous! These flatware go great with my kitchen theme. Considering the Mepra name and the Italian quality, these are worth the investment as they should last a lifetime.

Black Gold
My first encounter with Mepra tableware was at a Four Seasons Hotel, where usually little expense is spared to surround their guests in luxury. This flatware is luxurious indeed and among the finest in the world. Anyone familiar with the Mepra brand name knows that they are world renown in the industry and the winner of quite a few design awards.Linea Oro Nero translates to "black gold line". The color appearance is a flawless shiny gunmetal. I wouldn't describe the color as black at all, it is much nicer than that. The style looks very modern, and in just looking at these you know that they are special. The "Titanium PVD" is an ion coating of titanium which makes them look and feel incredibly durable. Indeed, I fully expect them to long outlast me. This really makes these a potential family heirloom and therefore, in the very long term a (dare I say it?) good value for based on their expected longevity. In my mind, the value doesn't stop there though. Using these for a dinner party certainly adds to the specialness of an occasion, (or even just a regular dinner). Having these dress a table makes one quickly forget their higher cost. And then there is also a certain pride of ownership that comes along with these. If you truly appreciate exceptional quality and these fit within your budget (even for a splurge), they are worth the cost.

Well-designed utensils that enhance everyday dining
A place setting of sterling silver will set you back around $1000, but you can pick up a 65-piece flatware set for under $100.Mepra utensils occupy a middle ground between those extremes, with the Oro lines priced at somewhere around $150 and $200 per five-piece ensemble. Each linea (or line, if you prefer) has its own aesthetically pleasing charm, straddling the middle ground between bends-when-you-touch-it and "did you really spend more on that set than we paid for our kid's first year of college?"If you, like me, fell in love with the Oro Nero just from the picture, you will find the real items just as enchanting. You don't need such luxurious utensils -- you can eat with your fingers as far as I'm concerned -- but this set will transform your leftover pasta into a dining experience. If you're thinking of upgrading your flatware but not interested in forking over the cash for sterling, this set may fit the bill: it's unusual and beautiful without being ridiculously expensive.

Stunning. My new personal flatware. Just awe inspiring.
First off, I'd say that this set does not photograph well. They are not black at all but more a high sheen quicksilver. There are warm tones of gray that are near brown in some light. I have small hands and these are perfect for me, especially the salad fork and small spoon. The latter is perfect for me for desserts (thinking creme brûlée) although it is called a coffee spoon. The knife is serrated and very sharp. The larger spoon has a very round bowl which is excellent for soup. The dinner fork has a long, slightly angled handle. All the pieces are finished to a high degree of quality control. No raw edges or irregularities. As functional as this flatware is for its intended purpose, it is a joy to look at and to hold. There is a sleek modernity here that also has a fond retro feel. The lines and the shapes remind me of avant garde pieces from the 1960s, a period now very much in favor. For 2 spoons, 2 forks and a knife to inspire so much depth of feeling makes them special to me. These come in a black roll up fabric case.

Ottima
Ottima pentola, molto leggera e maneggevole. Funziona benissimo con il piano a induzione. Coperchio pesante di vetro, che dà stabilità alla pentola. Molto bella anche da vedere!
